Get real. Parents do that for their kids in college all the time.Yeah, let's not worry the legal adult driving the vehicle by making sure their license and insurance papers are in order. Gotta assign someone at UT to do it for them. Can't expect them to handle all those "adult" things. That's the answer.
They are reasonable. One of my good friends was a cop. But a person can’t be a jerk to an officer and disregard an officer’s request to provide license and registration. Why was that not just a citation? I'm a cop and I VERY rarely arrest anyone for driving charges unless they were a total a-hole. Knoxville police must be ridiculous.
I have been screwed by police and I was innocent.Until you plead out, it's suspicion. His suspicion appears to be backed up by radar since he was "clocked" at 63 in a 35.
Teach your kids to comply is the lesson here. I've been stopped more than once, been asked to step out more than once, and been actually in violation more than once but gotten a warning in large part because I did everything I could to help the officer avoid having to do more paperwork than absolutely necessary.
Don't be a dick to people who make your food, service your vehicle, or can write you a ticket for a hundred dollars.

Your point is well taken BUT there are some careers that it matters a ton! Maybe not fair but that's the way it is. I am retired from a profession if one of my guys got "in trouble" with enforcement it would be the lead story on the news every single time. I'd have this conversation with all of them constantly but inevitably some knucklehead would have a run in and create unwanted attention. Playing football, especially at Tennessee, just happens to be one of those careers. It does not matter how many "normal" citizens have done this. Fair? Probably not. But it goes with the high profile territory. My question is how many people this week or hell even today were stopped for speeding on a suspended DL and didn’t make the news. That’s why it’s a nothing burger. Move on
why was he stopped? Not because his license was suspended. That was almost certainly found out later.Think you skipped over the suspended DL part.
Exactly. I’ve taught my kids how to act off and when they are pulled over and to comply with the officer.Get real. Parents do that for their kids in college all the time.
Perhaps you're not familiar with America where you are actually given a ticket, which you can fight, for speeding and the state must prove it via evidence if you request a trial.why was he stopped? Not because his license was suspended. That was almost certainly found out later.
How is there such a thing as suspicion of speeding. Either you tracked or clocked and were known to be speeding, or you likely were pulled over without cause.
edit- according to a poster above, it is labeled suspicion until it is taken to court.. If that is true, and he was pulled over for cause.
I would think you of all people would understand why he was arrested. The way society treats officers today is embarrassing not to mention dangerous. I’m sure he earned that ride to the station. Why was that not just a citation? I'm a cop and I VERY rarely arrest anyone for driving charges unless they were a total a-hole.
