"That kid's a heck of a player that we obviously missed on early, there's no question about it," Newberg said of Hughes. "Right now, to me, he may be the best prospect in the state when it’s all said and done. And we just flat missed him.

"That's hard to do today, just miss a guy like that, but we did. He's a great pickup."

Fulmer said Hughes, at this stage in his career, bears a striking resemblance to former Vols defensive tackle Justin Harrell, who transformed from a little-known recruit to a 2007 first-round NFL draft pick.

I think we got a good one here too! As soon as I watched his video I felt this way. I don't think this kid was as fortunate as other high school athletes and didn't get to go to the Rivals and Nike camps and just didn't get noticed. I think we were very lucky to get him. I haven't seen it mentioned, but I think he will have to do a year or so of Prep or JUCO. He might be immediate impact player once he does arrive at UT though.

that's why I don't take the rankings so seriously. To miss a guy that is now one of the state's best? He wasn't even listed on either main board until he committed to UT.

Prep School is essentially a 5th year of high school. No classes taken count towards graduation. Kids go to prep school to show they are willing to work and get their GPA up.

JUCO is college. Prep school is not.

I am not sure. It was mentioned in the article when he first commited that it might be a possibilty he would need to go to Prep or Juco, but I haven't heard anything about it since.

Your profile indicates that you are probably in your Junior year right now. I smell a cell phone story in progress.

Interestingly enough, he took the test last year during the UT-Vanderbilt matchup in Nashville.

If you did make a 31???? where did you go to college??
Oxford? Yale? Columbia? The Sorbonne in Paris?
