Until we actually see them playing and free of hindrance, this will be a concern.

VolCrazy is right in that you really have to worry now that Tucker will never be able to play at a high level again. That would be a damned shame.

It looks like the earliest she could be ready would be the same year Diamond can play.

Russel rehabbing until October is bad news as well. We just can't buy a break with injuries. They always seem to rob us of a piece that we need to make a serious run.

On the plus side, Vicki Baugh was able to make a WNBA roster in spite of her knee injuries.

The good thing is that Tennessee will be plenty deep at SG and wing that they wouldn't need to ride Tucker for 35 min per game. Even if she's limited to 15 to 20 like Baugh was, she can still be a major contributor to the team.

I wonder if this doesn't go to explain at least a little bit of our loading up on guards? If the coaches thought Tucker's knee may be pretty bad, and with Ariel having the problems she has had they might be trying to avoid a worst case scenario where neither of them are able to contribute anymore. That seems wise to me.

Let's hope both of them are able to be healthy and reach their potential. But if not we will at least have the numbers to replace one or both if things don't go well.

I gotta say though I am rooting for Tucker more than any player to come through here.

Holly said Tucker would be good to go when practice started. She said Tuckers surgery was just to tighten things up a bit and give the knee more stability. I haven't read the KNS story so it may differ from what I heard.

She also said Russell would miss the pre-season games. I don't know if that schedule has changed in the last week or so though.

Hard to be real optimistic about these revelations.....

Is Tucker going to be ready to roll come season opener?
Are Russell's toes going to be ready for a full season?

A mystery that only time will reveal.

Yeah, tightening things up a little and putting in another ligament from a cadaver don't seem to be the same thing to a layman's ears. I guess we will find out soon enough.

we obviously don't know whether the injuries she suffered from her male friend were directed at the knees, But as Voluble2 stated she is someone to root for.

I think expectations about Tucker have to be pretty low this year, frankly. First, she didn't play her senior year of high school, correct, and hasn't played for two years. That's a lot of time away from the game. Second, she's coming back from knee surgery. Third, she's taking big step up the competitive ladder this year. Unless she practiced quite a bit last year and is truly special, I wouldn't expect a lot from her. My bet is that it will take her time to get up to speed.

I don't know if he caused the original injury, but I did read where he allegedly beat her in the legs with a dog chain to try to keep her from being able to play. I think it was her cousin who said that. So yeah, if she gets on the court at all it will be a victory.

I am just glad she is here and likely/hopefully safe from all of that now. I will cheer my ample ass off for her if she ever takes the floor.

The original ACL injury either came in USA basketball tryouts or during actually playing with USA basketball. Can't remember which one.

I wonder more about the rehab after the ACL surgery. Given the circumstances, it seems she wasn't able to correctly and fully rehab her knee.

I agree. Even if healthy, it will take her half the season to get back into the groove.

I don't believe Lady Vols Basketball is a charity organization, with that in mind, the basketball powers I am pretty sure, knew what they were getting in Jannah. She will be ready to play:thumbsup:!

Jannah was the answer next at the three spot, but the injury will set us back, now we will have to develop other players to play behind the three and four spot. Jannah was a beast in high school, just as good as Alisha Gray, super competitive.

Russell has one more year, by her junior she should be solid. I'm expecting Izzy, Beastshaara, and Jones to hold it down until she get upto speed but I see us playing a lot of four out, next year with all the guards and wings.

Get healthy ladies, cos injury means, you can't compete.
