Frankly, people like you are really ignorant to the facts! First, insulting Christians by the term "thumpers" and secondly, which is more important, ignoring the cost financially, criminally, and emotionally that all drugs cause! Nothing could be further from the truth about your comment! Think about it!!!!!
:loco:

Do you drink wine at church?

A parent calling the police and/or social services to come and evaluate their child is the equivalent of the nuclear option for that parent. Even more so, when that child is a teenager and/or adult.

IOW, until more comes out on this, the bizarre nature of the crime, the fact that Janzen was said to be talking to himself and acting strangely, and the fact that his mother called and reported this/asked for assistance weeks before the crime gives strong reason to doubt his mental health. And serious mental health issues can and do lead to violence - not on all people but in some. The power of hallucinations, delusions and the loss of the ability to think and combat them happens all the time without treatment. Fortunately, for most sufferers, most of these symptoms don't involve paranoia or delusions so extreme that the sufferer lashes out BUT sometimes they do. That's just an uncomfortable truth - not all mental illness is the same and even folks diagnosed with the same condition manifest those symptoms in different ways.

I pray for a cure for all who suffer - period.

And Janzen, may well be a terrible human but he could just as easily be a human suffering from an out of control terrible condition (and no, if ill, that doesn't mean he should walk - a big myth anyway since even those found insane don't go free. It's lawyers and the press playing up 'temporary insanity' because if it's temporary the 'by gosh there's no need to protect you from society!' and other defenses that aren't remotely the same as a formal insanity plea that has led to this. A formal insanity plea is in fact the quickest and easiest way to get you fried or sentenced to LWOP since it's got the highest failure rate as a defense by far.

IOW, watch and wait. Janzen shouldn't and won't go free for this crime but he sounds very ill and there's a big difference between someone who is legitimately ill and someone who isn't. If he's not legitimately ill that's a whole other issue and a purely criminal one but one way or another the facts and maybe even a little truth will come out.
