Jarnell Stokes on solid debut: "I had to do it. I came here to play for the state of Tennessee and my college."

"The time is now. I'm looking forward to the next game. We all are."

Jarnell Stokes on teammates: "That’s why I came to Tennessee — going into every game, they feel like they can win."

Stokes on if he surprised himself: "Naw. I mean, I woulda never came out there if I felt I wasn't (ready). I think I coulda done better."

I love the fact that even though he had a great debut, he thinks that he could have played even better. We really have something special here guys!

This is the kind of person you want representing your basketball program.

I was floored with how quickly he has adjusted. So were the commentators. Look out when he learns the offense and gets in shape. He will be one of the best we've ever had.

He didnt disappoint. He is very calm out on the floor and he is mature beyond his years.Just think we only lose Tatum. If Tn can get a couple more Memphis players.I think I was wrong about CCM.I know he is getting the best out of this team now.

I know this comparison is not even close but I see #5 on Stokes and I still see Lofton.

He doesn't even know all of the offenses and defenses and still was outstanding. He reminded my of Tobias Harris around the rim. Imagine if we had them both this year.

I know I'm jumping the gun here, but could Stokes be eligible for the draft or do we have him at least until next year since he was a mid term enrollee? I don't think he will try to, but ya never know. After his performance today against a quality opponent he definitely won't stick around all 4 years, imo.

I was at the game. he enters the game to great applause then goes right in with baby hook and fall away jumper.
he's a beast and fought in the jaws of the enemy underneath.
extremely impressed. he is a mid enrollee=1.5 years min with us

He's not eligible until the end of next year. We'll have him at least 1.5.

I'm proud of the way the team played today after such a short rest. They never gave up even when they were down with under a minute to go. Stokes will make a hugh difference to this team and they should win quite a few games the rest of the way. CCM has them on the right track. Go Vols!!!!

he is the type of player that is NEVER going to be satisfied, he is always going to find things to improve on and work on it. i really hope this rubs off on some of our other players, im very curious who his roomate is. they should have put him with jordan mcrae that guys needs someone in his ear at all times.

Add to that he has no legs yet.
He'll be a game changer for us against weaker post teams.

with him and maymon down on the block i really think we have an outstanding post game. uk was forced to start double teaming stokes(in his first college game) and stokes made 2 great passes to maymon out of it. once they learn how to effectively pass to each other, and kick out to shooters when the guards collapse we could really have something in the making here. the other great thing about that is in close games down the stretch you want to have post players you can go to for high percentage shots, the fact we will have 2 is going to prove HUGE!
