From GVX today:
COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina has suspended running back Jarvis Giles for the Gamecocks’ game at No. 2 Alabama. Offensive line starter Heath Batchelor also won’t make the trip.

South Carolina athletic spokesman Steve Fink said on Friday that Giles violated team and university policy. The freshman was the 22nd-ranked Gamecocks’ second-leading rusher this season with 245 yards.

Fink said he did not know if Giles’ suspension would extend past the game at Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

Multiple media outlets have reported that Batchelor left the team this week. Fink would not comment on the reports.

Second-team receiver Dion Lecorn and backup defensive end Byron McKnight will miss the game with injuries.

Makes you wonder if he would have even cut it at UT with Kiffin's emphasis on discipline.

I don't think Kiffin didn't get this guy.. I think we didn't get him.. We wanted this kid bad in the beginning..

I heard he was suspended for choking the Gamecock mascot during an altercation at practice. The headline in TheState.com read:

"Giles suspended for choking chicken during practice"

Tragic we didn't retain Fulmer and Stan Drayton so this future American leader could have matriculated in Knoxville.

Surely the "discipline" chest beaters understand that if Giles were here this sort of thing wouldn't have happened under Kiffin's leadership.

Another one of Fulmer's upstanding recruits with questionable character. Giles wouldn't have lasted very long under Lane. He would have been given walking papers along with Warren. We don't need these thugs on this team now or in the future.
Go Vols !!!

He missed too many classes, big f'ing deal. It's not like he was caught snorting cocaine.

Its all about whether or not the player buys in. The reason we have great discipline this year is the players bought in to Kiffin system, on and off the field. They believe there are going to be conquences, and respect that.

Kiffin has done a pretty damn good job of making sure guys get to class, seeing as how he and O go by and make sure they are there

Definitely failing his classes. As Major Wingate proved, you can fail multiple drug tests and still play.

Missing class is a big deal because the SEC has a class attendence policy. If he doesn't make grades, then he would be ineligible next season.
