He could take a shovel and dig that Tiger up for all I care. I guess they have to have something to complain about other than how their team got demolished in the second half.

He can't plant that flag unless he digs a hole first. It has something like a tennis ball on the bottom of the pole.

:dunno:

So Allen takes on huge RB's and WR's yet can't pull the tennis ball off the pole? :moon2:

No one stopped him because they were too busy destroying the bus in the parking lot.

Personally, I hope he didn't.

We would all freak if a Bama or Florida player planted their flag in the middle of Neyland/Shields-Watkins.

Not necessary IMHO

What's the big deal.

If they'd been playing at Neyland, and they owned our butts like we owned their's in the last half, they would have deserved to build townhouses at mid-field.

When you dominate a team like we did LSU in the last half you've earned the right to stake out your claim on their home field.

Here's a hint. If you don't want the opponents to plant their flag on your logo, don't blow a 21 point half-time lead.

Now there's a novel idea for 'em.

I agree. There is a diff in being happy and going over board. This was the latter. Directing the band is one thing, as it was OUR band. The field is theirs and it/they deserve respect.

I was at the game. Allen was running around with the flag like he has before and then went to the middle of the field, waved it around, and drove the end of it into the tiger eye logo. A few other vols joined him and bounced/jumped around on the logo. Poor sportsmanship and could have cause a fight with tiger players that would take exception to that, like they did when Arkansas and Nutt did it a few years ago.

i hope he didnt either. if you win at an opposing stadium imo, you just get out of there happy and celebrate with your team. no need to make everyone else feel like crap.

I don't see planting the flag as poor sportsmanship.

I consider getting in a player's face after a big hit as poor sportsmanship.

After the game though, that field belongs to the winner.

I don't see planting the flag any less intimidating than our players directing our band at an opponent's field.

Think about it. The field is the arena of play. It is the territory that you struggle to take for 60 minutes of play. You've fought to stake out your territory and when you win, that territory temporarily belings to the victor.

Was Rick's toss of the ball into the LSU student section poor sportsmanship? I don't think so. I certainly believe that went farther than the flag planting because it involved direct contact between our players and their students.

And I also think you guys are missing one very key element in all of this.

Our team was taunted to a very pitiful degree as they arrived. Our team's bus windows were broken by over zealous fans and our players didn't forget that. Our team knew that LSU had used their advantage with the storms to gain public sympathy, and had refused the reasonable earlier request of a day game for Saturday to help our fans who couldn't find rooms.

I believe that with all of the circumstances leading up to the game, including many LSU fans saying coach Fulmer was afraid to go to Baton Rouge sheds a different light on our guys behavior after the game.

I didn't hear anybody complaining when they stuck a flag in the moon.
