He's out for the rest of the season with a broken collar bone.

He did have a good game last night.

Clavicle (collar bone) is the easiest bone to break. Broke mine playing football. Croon should be 100% in about 6-8 weeks

7.5 lbs of direct pressure is supposedly all it takes to break one. It's remarkable you don't see it more often.

I'm not sure how many 3rd-and-long or 4th-and-long catches Croom had this year, but it seemed as though he had one every game. Clutch receivers are hard to find. We'll be seeing more of Croom next year.

Downs is not a starting TE in the SEC. He needs to hit the weights, can't tell you how many times he got blown up trying to block (lost count), he is a below average receiver, and right now just doesn't deserve to see the field. We need help at this position bad.

I will admit that downs lacks the speed to be an sec tight end, but if you think he gets blown up at the line of scrimmage what do think is gonna happen to croom? Croom avoids contact from defensive backs, what do you think will happen when he's trying to block sec defensive ends and linebackers?

I was disappointed all year that it seemed as if Croom never made a catch until the game was pretty much over. He never had a catch when the game ws hanging in the balance. Against UK, it was starting to look like he was rolling . . . unfortunately, that injury ended what was easily looking like his best game as a Vol. From the looks of things, it appears that he just wasn't being targeted enough. Sure wish we might have figured it out before the last game.

And take some of the load off Howard and North...... He was having a solid game last night before getting injured.

I'm claiming it in advance. He will be ok by winter workouts and will be next year's Kelvin Benjamin.

Who's Kelvin Benjamin?

Edit: nvm, googled him, big WR for Fla St, RS Soph, got it.

With Pearson coming in and hopefully Malone, Croom better thrive on the competition and improve a lot. Doubt he starts in that scenario but we definitely need him in the rotation for quality depth. Never wanna see Smith on the field again unless we're up 4 tds with less than a minute to play.

I love the way Croom dominated his space in that game. His long reception was more than just an athletic catch. It was mind in action.

Not correct on the catches. Croom had the early touchdown catch in the Oregon game that put us up 7-0. A very nice catch with a crisp throw by Worley. I do agree however that he seemed to be having a breakout type game, and would have like to seen him more involved throughout the year.

Watching the play I was concerned that it might have been an AC separation. Clavicle fracture certainly is the lesser of the 2 evils. He'll be back strong and spunky. Best wishes for quick healing.:good!:

Yep, when they hit like that it usually is the clavicle fx or the AC separation, like the Green Bay QB had earlier this year.

I am an 81 from UTCHS also, btw

I didn't think we used him enough this year at all. North, pig, and croom should have been the main three wideouts in most plays . I personally would like a new WR coach and possibly a QB coach but I don't that happens. Were the hell was browels all year? We had the number #1 rated wide receiver class just two years back. We have all these recieverz and we put carter and smith out there most of the time.I never saw Harris or jenkins but maybe saving with redshirt.I look for several wide outs to transfer this year.

Get well soon young man! Great to hear the seniors are going to continue to work out and lead the underclassmen thru winter. Change is coming!

Croom is going to be a special player. The whole team really showed up Sat night and left it all on the field. Kudos to CBJ and his staff for having a good game plan but more importantly having the guys dialed in and ready to play.
