Jauan Jennings took 11 classes!

I just read that Jauan Jennings took 11 classes in the last 1 &1/2 months of last semester so that he could graduate early and get a head start on Rocky Top. That is completely insane! He also did that while taking his team to the state quarter finals. Man, that dude is committed. I like how the boys are growing up fast these days at UT. Here is a link to the story if you have not read it yet (story is about all of the early enrollees, not just JJ):

Props to him for getting it done, but come on, online high school courses? Those have to be beyond a joke to complete. The hardest part of actual high school courses is just showing up. Let's not anoint the guy as a Rhodes Scholar or anything...

I remember I needed 1/2 of a credit to graduate and I did that before Christmas, but I like High school so much I took some BS classes so I could stay in school with all of my friends

Another thing that I really liked was that when the QB Jones from Cali visited this weekend, he chose to sleep on the practice field in a sleeping bag. It sounds silly, but these are the players that will give us championships.

What merits does this post add to the discussion? I will answer for you...absolutely nothing at all. The salient point is that he worked very hard to get here early. That is commendable.

Better question is why he waited so long to take the classes that were needed to get into college..

Sounds more like he needs time management classes...lol

Jk I had to be that guy

TIL online classes are a joke.

That may be true, and I am not saying he is rocket scientist (we already have one of those :)); I don't even know what grades he made in those classes. The point I was bringing up is that he could have said, "Man, that's too much to do especially while we are trying to make the state playoffs. I'll just take it easy and graduate at the normal time and get to UT in the fall." But instead he wanted to get UT to get a head start and to get bigger & stronger and start learning the system. That attitude of "I'm going to do whatever it takes to get better" is something I am excited to see in a lot of our new kids and I think we will all see that pay off on the field.

:good!:

If the on-line classes were sufficient to meet state and NCAA approval - why make light of what JJ did. I don't get it. Shows tremendous initiative to get ahead in life and go compete. Proud of him.

I think I remember reading that he wasn't made aware that it would be possible for him to EE until very late in the game, and he attacked it as soon as he knew it was a possibility.

Hats off to the kid for pulling it off. Impressive. Talk about when there's a will, there's a way.

Most likely NCAA will swing by and be snooping around.

Can't wait to see JJ ball out.

I really hope Jones or Dormady excel at the next level allowing Jennings to move to Safety. With Jennings at Safety this may be the best Defensive recruiting class we have ever had (atleast on paper).

I talked with his father for a good bit yesterday. Nothing earth shattering but he never asked or cared about who else we were recruiting at QB. Said butch really liked that about the family. Shows he doesn't care about competition or working hard
