Stone not coming to TN....

from ESPN: Tennessee Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Under Armour All-American offensive tackle James Stone (Nashville, Tenn./Maplewood) does not have Tennessee in his top five, ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com reports.

Maplewood coach Ralph Thompson said Stone's current top five includes Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. Tennessee, while still in the mix, did not make his top group.

"I guess just by proximity they are still in there, but I don't think he feels comfortable there," Thompson said. "It is not the right fit for him. It is nothing against Tennessee, but he just doesn't feel comfortable there."

Stone has made official visits to Notre Dame and LSU. Thompson added, "He still wants to take his final three official visits. He wants to have all this sewn up by the Under Armour game. I think he will announce at that game on Jan. 2. He will make it known where he wants to go."

MrBamSeydu is a good friend of mine, since we were kids. He let me know of your wager and I just texted him of your post. I told him the same thing, knew that there was no way that he could be a dawg but he is set in his ways. Oh well now he will pay for it. Cheerio chaps, the Orange Hammer has spoken!!!

true story.

Not a huge deal to me since we got James and are still in good shape with Green and a few others. Nobody would be talking about this if Stone wasn't from TN.

Does getting a commit from James, speed up the decisions of some of the other OL?

Doesn't surprise me. His performance at the UT camp this summer wasn't very impressive. Although he won a MVP award (questionable) I think the staff had / have several other prospects ahead of him preference wise ... James, Cullen and Green for sure, maybe even others.

How could he be comfortable at UT with the talent that is rolling into Knoxville? Go figure!

Bump... it's the kind of Monday where we need a thread title like this one at the top!

Who's following this big man's path next?

Hello Volnation first post here.
Didn't know where to to put this so I put it here.
Was reading ajc article on Hutson Mason recruiting and in the comments section someone mentioned a possible investigation into UT and recruiting at North Gwinnett High School. I thought nothing of it until Chip Towers replied that he was looking into it. Has anyone heard anything?

Tennessee isn't being investigated.. It was rumored for awhile the helicopter ordeal was a violation but it wasn't.

I've heard rumors that Bob Sphire supposedly reported Tennessee for recruiting violations with JJ. Hard to tell how reliable they are because this is the kind of stuff you hear from every fan base when they lose an in-state kid to an out-of-state rival.

I am hearing that it is Bammers with some sour grapes. I really find it humorous that they are accusing another school of recruiting violations when they may have the dirtiest program over the the last 50 years in total outside of maybe SMU.

However, I also have read that this may not be the only recruit involved, but it should all come out soon if it ever comes out at all. I also heard lawyers showed up at the school but I find that really far fetched. Only time will tell if this is just another rumor.
