62. Tennessee Volunteers (Previous ranking: 51)

Offensive rebounds (36.1 percent) have really helped, but they are almost a must given some poor shooting (48.1 eFG%, No. 201 in the nation). Jarnell Stokes requires a double-team and Jordan McRae was The Bilastrator's SEC Player of the Year, but Tennessee is an NIT team.

This pretty much flies in the face of what he was saying on TV this morning

That's what I thought when I read that. None of these guys know beyond an educated guess on the last couple of slots. It's almost as if they get picked on a whim sometimes.

That goes without saying. But there would have to be quite a few bid stealers for us to not get in

No there wouldn't...there's at large bids from crappy schools, like Liberty or Florida gulf coast etc...there's about 20 of those teams.

68 teams get in, subtract 20 at large teams who aren't better than us, and you're left with 48 spots...we aren't in his top 48.

Florida Gulf Coast wasn't at large, they won their conference tourney. The Atlantic Sun isn't getting a 2nd team in

I meant auto my bad.

Yes there's 37 at large and 31 auto...however about 20 of the autos are teams worse than UT (such as Liberty FGCU). So you have basically 45-50 spots for the best teams left...if bilas has us 62 we wouldn't fall into that.

Like I said this year there's 21 auto bids worse than Tennessee, so you have about 47 spots left for the best teams in this years bracket.

Most of those autos won't get a 2nd team in if an inferior team won the conference tourney

You're doing numbers wrong somewhere.

Look at a mock draft and do the numbers, there's not room for the 61 best teams.

Simple math says 20 teams not in his ranking gets in, that leaves room for only 48 teams to get in...if we aren't in his top 50 we wouldn't be in his bracket.

MTSU over UT for at large bid per Lunardi's bracket
hard to believe things have changed that much in 2 years.

I wonder how many players on MTSU's roster, UT even offered.
