Jay Bilas Top 68 Teams...

I am not sure we have anyone on staff that is very knowledgable about low post offense. And when a big gets the ball in the paint without gameplan, happy feet happen real quick.

Stokes not always recognizing a double-team is also too blame. He needs to see it and find the open man better. IMO

I have thought that too at times this year. Stokes would probably benefit from a good low post coach. I think his footwork and descision making could stand some improvement. I have seen someone on here say it before, but he needs to go on the baseline side more instead of to the lane.

All the coaches on staff are former guards, so that explains a lot.

I was thinkin the same thing. Not knockin them, just hard to teach what was probably never taught.

Or just being a moron like Kenny hall. How a senior still doesn't understand how to pivot and when to dribble is beyond me, dude must have 0 brain cells left.

Haha! But then he'll make a play that some NBA bigs don't make. It's 9 horrid plays, and 1 that makes you go " where the F has that been?"

Despite losing to UGA on Saturday, Bilas (ESPN's NCAA Tourney expert) took Tennessee from #64 to #47 in this week's updated rankings. Here is what he said:

To view the rest of the rankings:

Indiana Hoosiers remain No. 1 in Jay Bilas' ranking of nation's top 68 teams - College Basketball - ESPN

Notable SEC Rankings in Bilas' list:

#5 Florida
#30 Missouri
#40 Kentucky
#47 Tennessee
#58 Ole Miss
#59 Alabama
#61 Arkansas

Even though UT is 1-4 against Ole Miss, Bama and Ark, not one of those three teams has a good OOC strength of schedule. Bama's expected OOC SOS by the end of the next 2 games is 78, Ole Miss' is an atrocious 274, and Ark's is 127. UT's is 38th.

Bama has one good OOC win against Villanova. They also have some bad losses to Tulane, Mercer and Dayton and all were at home.

Ole Miss has zero good OOC wins. The only teams they played that were any good were Indiana St and MTSU and they lost both.

Ark has one good OOC win against Oklahoma. They don't have any bad losses OOC. Their worst loss on the season is at USCjr by 21 somehow and then at Vandy by 18.

UT can thank UMASS for being pretty good this year. Wichita St is their best win on the season OOC, but UMASS has a RPI of 54 and only 2 bad losses on the season. Xavier has come up off the mat too and is under 100 in the RPI at 92.

Was going to post this, but you saved my time. Historically, the committee emphasizes playing a good OOC schedule, and winning a couple of them. Our loss to Georgetown is probably better than any win over Kennesaw or Presbyterian. The other SEC teams don't have the schedule or the wins that we have. Just have to keep winning. I think a Missouri win puts us over the top.

This is all fine and dandy for our tourney hopes, but we'll need a much better team effort from here on out. No more "McRae Day" without supporting cast help, because Jordan can't get it done by himself.

True, but he needs to shoot more as he is very hot right now. He scored 35 on only 15 shots Satruday. Richardson took almost 10 shots and hit maybe two.

The biggest issue was Golden doing nothing until the last seconds of the game. It's one thing if they limit Stokes. If they limit Stokes and Golden does not help McCrae out, we are in trouble.

Would like to give a shout out to Hall though. Great minutes in Saturday's game.

GO VOLS!!!

that ranking does put tennessee squarely on the bubble.

better hope gonzaga, butler, middle tennessee, etc, win their respective conference tourneys

sorry, bad examples.

i'll rephrase.

hope other schools out there don't steal bids

Ok...yea it's that way every year for bubble teams. There likely will be a couple taken, and room for 4 or so bubble teams...if UT takes care of business they'll be fine.

Kenny Hall is the most enigmatic post player I can remember. He has those games, like last Saturday where he plays smart, sound, efficient basketball. Then he has games that leave you wondering where he got a D1 scholarship. Unfortunately, he has more of the latter and less of the former. He's a better shooter from 10 feet than 2 feet which is unbelievable for a player his size. When he gets a shot up in the paint, I have little faith in it going in, but if he takes a shot from the baseline 10 feet away, I almost expect it to go in.

Major Wingate was that way too.
