My thinking exactly, though I would make it more of a contract since they want to be employees. Put a buyout clause in the NIL contract that would require a prorated portion of the total contract to be paid back to the source if the contract requirement is not met. That is the argument that proponents for NIL and the portal used. Coaches can do it, so why not the players. Coaches have buyout clauses, why not players?Look. There is zero risk for a player to enter the portal. They need some risk.
If you enter the portal, your NIL and your scholarship is removed. You are no longer part of the team or on scholarship. Can’t use the football resources, etc.
It is your risk that you take. Until there is risk on both sides, you will see this continue to happen.
Now, if the team wants to offer you a scholarship back, fine. But when you are in the portal, you are not a scholarship NCAA football player.
School doesn’t have to take them back if they go into the portal. There is some risk. A lot guys have offers before they go into the portal though.Look. There is zero risk for a player to enter the portal. They need some risk.

Big game no shows no pressure no sacksHe’s toyed with the portal like Tyler Baron did to us several times. Time to move on. DL is about the only group I feel like we have a coach that can develop talent no matter what he’s got to work with, so I think CRG will still have a strong unit next year regardless of what happens with the portal.

Oh please! Without playing at a "brand name school" these players would have NOTHING absolutely NOTHING to bank NIL on. It is a two-way street.Long live capitalism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't have this mess if the big shots at schools weren't so greedy about taking all the benefits of name image and likeness while forbidding players to benefit from the same; for so many decades. Greed begats greed, which is the central core of modern day capitalism.
Which one of us would turn down an offer from a competitor business to expand our responsibilities in our job / career?Oh please! Without playing at a "brand name school" these players would have NOTHING absolutely NOTHING to bank NIL on. It is a two-way street.
And honestly the really great players of the past used their success on the FIELD to build up their image. That is not what is happening - it is greed and securing dollars without proving they are even worthy of it.
Ypu're free to believe what you wish. So so am I. And this isn't the past, it's the here and now. Just the same, the seeds that were planted for so long, have sprouted. Long live capitalism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Oh please! Without playing at a "brand name school" these players would have NOTHING absolutely NOTHING to bank NIL on. It is a two-way street.
