because of the ability to kill en mass like this and that people don't need em for hunting or self defense. but i don't want to get into a gun argument here. that's my belief. i'm generally pro gun ownership.

really, what purpose do they serve other than something like this? what would be the reason to own one of them in the first place?

Worst time for their argument. People are more concerned with defending themselves after crap like this.

This is usually the best time for the opponents of the 2nd Amendment to push their agenda, when people are scared. A lot of people think that this kind of thing would just go away if they outlawed all guns and don't really think through the hidden implications. Wasn't it the attempt to shoot President Reagan that led to the Brady bill?

Same result.

I wonder what this is going to be about, in the end. Really do.

It could be a number of things. Its hard to judge why people do this type of stuff. We train for this on a regular basis and never thought we would use it being a rather small town( 60,000), but we ran into this very situation. Guy arms himself to the teeth and goes after his girlfriend at the TDOS. Kills her and several other people, but walks by a few and doesnt harm them. You just never know whats going through someones mind at that time. He was caught alive and never fired a shot at any of our guys.

How about: defending yourself from someone else who has a full-auto?

That is correct about the Brady Bill

because they are the only kind that can defend against it? what did the officer shoot this guy with? just wondering. hadn't heard.

I'm just saying, be realistic. If someone has a full-auto and for whatever reason, you find yourself pinned down in the firefight, which would you rather have, a six-shooter or a full-auto?

When confronted with the idea of invading the U.S. after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese decided to let the U.S. bring the fight to them. A large majority in the Japanese military wanted to invade the western coast of the U.S., directly proceeding the attach on Pearl Harbor. However, it was strongly discouraged by Admiral Yamamoto, who had spent a long period of time in the U.S. He recommended that it would be a grave mistake. That Americans would arm themselves and would defend their Homeland to the death. Without that fear, the Japanese might have invaded the Western U.S. Admiral Yamamoto was also famous for his quote " I fear that we have awoken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve".

Happened during a bank robbery in CA a few years back. Shoot, it just happened in TX yesterday and in Orlando today. Admittedly, because most Americans are unarmed these days, they are not so much "firefights" as "shooting fish in a barrel".

It is also one of those "foot in the door" laws. First we outlaw the full-autos. Then we require registration. Then we outlaw semi-autos. And so on it goes...

Well said, this is why this country will never be invaded.

First time you've made me laugh, LG. Well played. I'll take one of those as well, except I might use mine to go back to the American frontier in the early 1800s...

Anti gun people say semi-automatic like its a bad word. The just try to generate fear about guns. Guns don't kill people, people do. But if the anti gun people can blame the killings on the guns then they don't have to worry about taking responsibility.

I hope that is still the case. We have so many people in this country that would just role over and play dead, rather than protect their rights and freedoms. I know I would. I would be slinging some lead down range.

I used to fall for it, too. Then one day my son showed me his glock and what semi-automatic meant, and I realized how silly the argument is. Now, I own a couple semi-autos... :good!:

if he's an engineer and has been drawing this up for 2 years then the company was correct in firing him.

I'd use mine to flash forward to when women REALLY outnumber us men ...and they show their appreciation for our rarity ....

Good, I am glad to hear you learned what it actually is. People hear semi-auto and they think oh my god that must really be bad.
