The new paint scheme seems to be working out this year............

You say it's the black paint.......I say it's the cost of a new wife and a baby.:)

I just think it took him a little longer to figure out what he needed with the new car on the intermediate tracks. He has run solid races from start to finish this year. He was fast last year but was rarely competitive at the end of races. Not a huge fan of his but everyone better watch out...................

I'd be shocked if he doesn't win at least one of the two race stretch of short tracks upcoming.

hes retiring after next year i bet

As long as he's making the chase and is running towrds the front consistantly I don't see him going anywhere. I don't see him as the type to run a part time schedule or anything like that. With the no testing policy drivers have more free time. That may help him stick around an extra year or two also.

There are a handful of drivers who have no problem getting sponsorship, and Gordon is one of them. I cannot see DuPont leaving causing Gordon to retire, if they do not reup, I'll be surprised.

Gordon won't retire just yet but he won't be driving in his 50's either. I think DuPont will go on a year to year basis as long as Gordon is driving but if they do leave he could probably move Pepsi as the primary sponsor.

honestly, it is good to see a JG conversation without the usual "insert your own JG redneck whine" comments. it may just be his struggles over the past couple of years, or probably just that we have an educated, unbiased group in the Nascar forum. i love the guy. he raced like Kyle Busch in his early days. Then he realized that Ray could build him cars that didnt require so much "cockiness," and still won. his win total has decreased over the past couple of years, but it does make a win that much more appreciable. i remember in 98' that he won so many races, that his team was just hi fiving instead of jumping for joy, because they were so damn used to winning. now i wait patiently for another appearance in victory lane. i still love the guy.

his time is coming soon. i'm not surprised to see him running well right now. we'll see if they can keep it going.

never really hated Jeff since he was at least kind of from Indiana.

jeff cussed on his radio more than anyone at bristol.. no its not a big deal to me, it just surprised me.. i thought it was Jr with every other word being "f", but it was definitely gordon.. he was not happy with his car at all and still had a good finish.. at one point he seemed to almost panic and said "weve got a really big problem" but still hung on to it and didnt lose much ground at all..
