I find this all to difficult to follow and have to have an educated opinion, but the money the U.T. athletic department has to pay out should come out of someone (Hart's?) pocket. someone in the administration should have their income deducted this amount. they actually should be fired..

Elitists don't think that way.

Two things I never understood about Pat's situation in all this. First, she signs an affidavit with Tyler as a witness stating Hart did talk of removing the logo and told her she would not be coaching after 2012. Why does she later say she didn't feel forced out? Pat always was known to be honest and direct. Why the conflicting stories?

Two, Tyler was a witness to the affidavit but then later says Pat "misunderstood"
Hart. What really happened there and if Pat was disrespected, why would Tyler go along with it?

I don't know how to answer your question without some speculation.

There is one certainty and this part was not misunderstood. Hart lied on the radio regarding the Lady Vols Logo when he stated there was absolutely no discussion going on regarding the Lady Vols Logo/Name being removed. That part is indisputable.

As for the part about Pat and her job... Hart vehemently denied he said anything like what Jennings suggested and I guess Hart got with Pat and Tyler and "settled" what ever it was to their satisfaction.

The question I have always had was this...the only two people with power enough to stop the logo/name issue were Pat and Joan, them speaking out against it would have certainly been met by the backing of the public. Why didn't they stand up for what they built over the course of their combined professional life at Tennessee?

I don't know the answer, and I probably never will.

Have to admit, I wondered about the "turn around" too, especially from someone with Pat's fierce integrity. What I heard, and I can't remember where, is that it was an insurance question. As in toe the line and keep your medical insurance or stick to what you are saying, get fired, and lose it. Pat's medical condition made it imperative she not lose her coverage.

I have absolutely NO substantiation or proof for this. Like I said, it is just something I heard way back when and is most likely just someone speculating. But it does 'answer' the questions you had above. Of course I guess there are plenty of other scenarios that would do so too. I just found it interesting when I heard it because it "made sense" to me.

This whole thing has been a nightmare for her and all Lady Vols/Vols. I just hate it for her, Tyler, her mother, brothers, sister,..... And I don't mean anything to do with basketball.

GBO and VFL

Are there more legal issues filed, or is this closure?

As far as I know, this is it. Reading the settlement, there is nothing barring any individuals from talking about the case...but from a legal stand point, to the best of my knowledge, it's over.

Certainly, at that time, both Pat and Joan were still drawing pay checks from the University. It's not my place to judge and if it was not a battle they wanted to fight for whatever reason, that's okay by me. They have earned the right to pick and choose, VFL all the way.

I agree with you and no satisfactory explanation or reasoning for why it was necessary has ever been given...well, other than "This is how everybody else does it."
