The category was titled "deminentive". The Canadian contestant answered the comment by deductive reasoning an NOT VIA ANY KNOWLEDGE OF TENNESSEE.

Are you sure it wasn't Diminutive?
If the category was Diminutive, then that makes the answer (or question on Jeopardy) easy to guess since tiny is a four-letter synonym for diminutive. You wouldn't even have to know his actual nickname to get that obvious reply correct. Obvious answers do not entail deductive reasoning.
