Not for sure I want Stokes shooting 20 footers

Not sure I do either.

But his free throw stroke isnt bad.(minus a few games that he completely syked himself out on the line) Very suprised he didnt jack at least a couple from at 15 ft or so. If he is going to have a career in the NBA he better find, borrower, or steal a jumper from somewhere. IMO

Read a while back that he had been working on it, and he knew it was something that he had to address. So hopefully that is promising

His follow-through on his FT shot is what needed work. He was much better when he kept his feet still through the entire shot, kept his elbow in, and followed through with his wrist, rather than flicking it on his release.

He never shot more than 4 free throws a game so missing 1 or 2 probably hurt his percentage.

I understand, but there is a good chance he leads our team in attempts this season, so whether it's 11-20 or 110-200, 55% is awful. He needs to focus on this weakness and make it a strength considering how much time he's likely to spend on the line.

He played very sparingly in this tournament for the most part, so he shouldn't have even been tired shooting those shots. That's a total lack of focus.

He was 11/20

You sounding like a coach right now! I love it!!!

Im hoping for the best but expecting about the same. Some of his free throw problems can be attributed to the reason some people think he doesn't play hard. Its the way he carries himself. He has a quite, unemotional, lethargic, lackidaisical way he carries himself. And at the line it equates to bad form... JOT

Needs his heels off the floor.

Great thread. Looking forward to a healthy Maymon.

As a side note I think the message board would read better if all the 2014 recruiting news and discussion relating to future recruits came under the BleedingTNorange "Big Board" sticky thread. There would be less clutter.

Again great thread here and thank you!

Uconn, has Leron Black visited you guys yet? Or do know if you are going to get one?

Can't wait to see him and Stokes together again. With a much more efficient McRae and Richardson. And Hubba Hubba Hubbs. I'm getting too excited now.

Black has not visited UConn yet. UConn as of now will be getting a visit from Black most likely after the Perkins visit.

Based on Black's religious ideology I thought Baylor might have been the best choice for him to develop spiritually which he is on the record of prioritizing as a criteria.

Kevin Ollie likes the kid and his strong faith will go over very well with Black and his mother. I am not as high on Black and would prefer UConn looked elsewhere. When all is said and done unless UConn gets back strong in the Abu sweepstakes Ollie should have this kid thinking UConn is a very good fit for him. Personally I think it is a bad fit.

Mentally I think Black will be similar to how Perry Jones was on the court at Baylor. Good luck getting him though. I could be wrong.

Preciate the info and good luck to you guys as well. I like his game a lot and think he could fit into a lot of systems. Wish he would come to Knoxville, but I'm afraid in the end Eddie Munster aka Billy D. will land another one.

Interesting to see if Eli Carter gets the waiver this year.

I think those kids should get a waiver. Kinda retarded the NCAA is dragging it out this long.

24/7 article

Maymon watch

"Martin told us again over the weekend that Maymon is playing all the time and without any limitations, and his explosiveness is virtually identical to what it was before the injury, so they don’t expect him to miss any time during practice."

"The only thing Maymon won’t do, in some cases, is run sprints with the team after practice. He’ll do some of his post-practice conditioning on the bike or somewhere else."

"As far as normal, in-practice running, though, the plan is to treat Maymon like everyone else, because he has to get back in basketball game shape,"

"Maymon doesn’t want any special treatment, either, so this seems good for everyone involved."

"Several players have told us Maymon looks exactly the way he looked before the injuries, so we’re eager to see whether that’s really the case."

"Maymon gets after Stokes mentally and physically the way few other players on this level are capable of doing."
