Don't know about the 'AA or SEC, but NAIA made me wait until the semester had ended. So I couldn't play in any games until Christmas break had officially started.

Why aren't they finalized?

Here's the deal. Grades are posted online. Up until some date--Monday the 20th, I believe--the profs can log back in to the online grade posting system and change any grade for any reason.

It would be rare for them to do this; most professors hate grading papers, and are eager for the semester to be closed up. They might put off the grading, but once they do it they're ready to be done until January.

The only reason a professor would go in and change a grade would be if a student somehow caught a grading error, or was allowed to turn in late work, or something like that.

The university is being weird about this, no doubt about it.

So do we think the university is keeping him out of play? Earlier someone mentioned that they couldn't play until the end of the year/start of the year (and start of the new semester). could that be it?

Maybe with potential further NCAA penalties looming UT is just playing it EXTRA safe at this point so there are no questions about it in the future.

Based on what we know now that sounds like it could be the case. Being overcautious makes sense I guess. Not exactly sure on the eligibility rules, in previous cases that were similar would this be an issue?

The morning show in the Animal this morning said it was a bowling grade he is waiting on and everything else is in line and that indeed, the class was completed in Oct. I took bowling as an approved elective(I would've rather taken a more athletic sport, but I have blown out my left knee the last 2 times I played a physical sport as my disease has stripped me of my durability even though I am a pretty darn athletic individual. My body just can't keep itself together when I make explosive cuts and moves like I used to be able to razzle and dazzle with) and the bowling class is not pass/fail as it is a solitary credit course. The grade was largely dependant on how you progressed from your first game to your best game. I bowled the game of my life and got over 250... Easiest A I've ever had by far:)

Christmas Break has officially started. All the on campus dorms are closed except for graduating students. I only have two of my grades posted unfortunately. Hopefully he get's cleared soon...We will need him this year.

Perhaps, but the season won't rest on tomorrow's outcome.

Exactly. Tomorrow's game is a good opportunity for a big win, but we're not doomed if we lose. I'm looking ahead to the SEC schedule. We're going to need quality depth and a physical presence for those games.

Win, and people will start talking about UT as a Final Four contender (perhaps prematurely). Lose respectably, and we don't fall any.

I haven't seen a line yet - anyone?

From Volunteertv.com
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tennessee forward Jeronne Maymon will not play for the Vols Saturday at Pittsburgh, although he has passed the necessary number of classes.

Maymon still has to wait for a five-day grace period to elapse on Tuesday before he is allowed to play, according to multiple sources close to the University.

While the grace period is largely a technicality, University of Tennessee academic officials are insisting the Vols honor it. Sources speculate the UT administration is exercising extreme caution in light of the ongoing NCAA investigation centering on the basketball program.

Maymon, a transfer from Marquette, will likely play his first game at Tennessee Tuesday, when the Vols host Oakland.

The part that I find puzzling is that someone should have known about this grace period where grades could still be changed. It should have been known that Maymon would not be eligible, so the team could have prepared accordingly
