Jerry Mack in running for HC Job

In the original article, it first lists 7 coordinators to watch and then goes on to include 3 "other names to watch," with one of the latter being Mack. So, if this is based on intel then he may not be on the top of the list. It's a good thing to have staff who are coveted though.

Better off staying put tbh. Build his resume for a few more years and likely get a better job offer than UNC Charlotte.

Tennessee coaches got raises across the board on September 15, 2022. We may have to revisit once more this year. I have faith that AD White will do whatever he can to accommodate the CJH's wishes. Here are the details.
    • Alex Golesh (Offensive coordinator/tight ends) went from $750,000 to $1.2 million.
    • Tim Banks (Defensive coordinator) was slated to make $1.4 million in 2022 and $1.5 million in 2023 after making $1.3 million in 2021, per his original deal; his new deal sees the salary structure remain the same, but he’ll make $1.5 million in 2024 as well.
    • Mike Ekeler (Outside linebackers/special teams coordinator) went from $350,000 to $475,000.
    • Rodney Garner (Defensive line) was slated to go from $550,000 in 2021 to $625,000 in 2022 on his original deal, but he has been bumped to $700,000 for this season and next – his deal runs a month longer than the others on two-year agreements and ends at the end of February 2024.
    • Glen Elarbee (Offensive line) went from $750,000 to $800,000.
    • Willie Martinez (Secondary) was slated to go from $425,000 in 2021 to $450,000 in 2022 on his original deal, but now will be at $465,000 for this season and next.
    • Brian Jean-Mary (Linebackers) went from $550,000 to $590,000.
    • Joey Halzle (Quarterbacks) went from $350,000 to $400,000.
    • Jerry Mack (Running backs) went from $400,000 to $425,000. ****************************************************************
    • Kurt Schmidt (Director of competition development) went from $375,000 to $400,000.
Will Healy earned $835,742 per year at UNC-Charlotte

This is a random guy repeating stuff he read on the internet from another guy pulling stuff out his posterior to fill space for an article:

"The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman believes that Vols running backs coach Jerry Mack could be an option to replace Will Healy as UNC-Charlotte’s head coach. "

He has no inside information.

Can't blame a man for doubling his salary. If they call, he would almost have to go.

At the same time Mack needs to think about his career. When you have a stable, sweet gig like UT RB coach you can bide your time and turn down good offers and wait for a great offer. The most important thing to consider with an offer like Charlotte, is can you win there? I'd be looking for schools that are typically in the upper half of their conference in W%, facilities, and NIL support.

Looks like the sharks are circling after our staff .

Hmm, seems to me this is one small lemon shark spotted at a distance of a couple of hundred meters off.

I wouldn't quite say "the sharks are circling for our staff" at this point. It's not like the USS Indianapolis or anything.

Go Vols!

Our AD should just do a serious fund raiser and give ALL our coaches a $1 Million raise!!!

Do NOT let our great coaches get away, NEVER!!!

If we pay like that then we can take our pick of the best coaches in the world!!!

Make K town the top destination for all top coaches and recruits!

VFL...GBO!!!

That is the most horrible story I think I have ever heard. To endure and suffer in that fashion must have been worse than Hell on Earth.

For those that don't know about this, here is a link. Read after lunch.

Garner should be the second highest paid assistant behind Golesh.

Not to mention that Heupel's and the assistant coaches' contracts here are all stocked with bonuses and incentives for team and program performance.
I believe I saw a blurb in one article after we beat Bama that stated Heupel was 100K richer because we are bowl eligible due to a bonus trigger in his contract...I'm sure that trickles down and the assistant guys all have similar triggers.

Not sure those bonuses and incentives are as lucrative and obtainable at Charlotte.
Likely looking at base salary and that's it in a program like Charlotte.

On a side note - we were supposed to play Charlotte in 2020 but that got Covid cancelled...could have been the Georgia State game of that season.

Would be nice if some of our coaches pulled a John Chavis and decided to stay put as an assistant. The wheels began to fall off the first time Cutcliffe left
