or he could have "known" his sister, like Moses.

....Moses married Zipporah....

also i dont think the hebrew word for that type of "know" was really used or used in that context after the Sodom and Gomorra story

I think you're right. Lot's daughters "layed with him," not "got to know him."

the whole "original sin" idea always baffled me

how could something that - when between two people who truly cared and loved each other and was an expression of their love - could be so beautiful, caring, and lovefelt and even brought the miracle of new life into the world and the joy of a child...be considered evil?

Jesus tells us that "original sin" is bunk.
The Catholics use it as a fund raiser.

Not a thing....but we would know it if he was. Nothing to hide.

.....well except for everything that's canon or christian history kinda was filtered out by the council of trent

meaning though that they very well could have taken what they wanted more / what served them (power wise) better and left out other stuff...or just however they wanted to create the image of the religion, they could

wouda couda shouda.....I know you do not believe in God....so, yes, you could be correct....I believe that God was in control of what was put in the Bible

what? I didn't say I did or didnt believe in god, nor stated anything about my religious views

I just have never trusted people who have power - at any point in history - deciding what's canon history or what's canon religion

I mean I can cite it with the Romans where a short poem The Aeneid became both written history, canon religion, and proof that the Caesar was descended from a god (aphrodite) - just because Augustus decided it was so.

powerful people deciding what's "official" religion or history always rubs me the wrong way

From your comments in many of the "debate" threads, I take it that you are not a believer....if I am wrong, I am sorry
Like I said, as a believer, I think God is always in control, we may not like what happens, but in control non the less....people create religions, that is a fact

I've really never said too much one way or another; i try to stay neutral in many of these things, but i do bring up often the correct historical contexts with things; there's usually some relation or tie-in to be found by such

this is the basis of my assumption

EJ is the last person I would want counseling me on spiritual matters or instructing me on theology. As far as the bible is concerned, my problem is not so much in believing it as in living it.

CS Lewis made a good point. He was either the son of God or he was insane. A sane person doesn't go around claiming to be the son of God.
