JG, Kamara, Wright at game

I didn't think he played that great, however, I also thought he received more criticism than he deserved because he was having to throw on his back most of the time and/or running for his life. Oline was horrendous. Hard to be successful that way.
I’d take that offensive line over JG any day. NFL teams agreed. JG created that mess by being a poor passer.

Is Kamara on the VFL train? He was rocking all black at the game. If he’s going to come in and crash our coaches and players’ press press conferences, he should be rocking vol gear. Does he claim UT whenever they introduce Saints offensive players on Sunday Night Football? Or does he just say something stupid like “Stone Creek Elementary School”? It’s an honest question that I don’t have an answer to, and I feel like she should either jump all the way on this train or GTFO. JMO. What is his allegiance? I need answers.

JG had one of the best offensive lines TN has ever had..

9 nfl players on that offense is kinda crazy with another 2 that were on practice squads is kind of crazy given the lack of production we had that season… heup did a lot of magic I wish Brandon Johnson would’ve stayed… the irony of him going to UCF I think he could’ve had a good year that first year with Heup.

NFL has nothing to do with being successful in college. That OL was hot garbage outside of Trey Smith. It's pretty bad when you're moving him from LT to RT depending on which side you're running to

You’re calling Cade Mayes and Darnell Wright “hot garbage” to convince that JG wasn’t a terrible QB.. Are my eyes deceiving me or is there someone as lost as JG with a football?

JG got benched for Mauer, Stroud, and Bailey, because as a senior he was that lost. JG transferred to Washington State because he wasn’t good enough to play for TN as a 5th year senior. But yeah, Cade and Darnell were garbage..

Neither of those guys were here in 2017. This was the starting OL and if memory serves me correct, Robertson and Jack Jones were out all year, maybe Richmond too because Marcus Tatum was extremely undersized and was forced to play OT because we had no other option.

Edit: I didn't specify which year. My fault. OL was pretty bad in 2018 too. But when you're hit as much as JG was you start feeling pressure when it's not there because you had to deal with a bad OL basically the whole time you're QB other than 2019. Then throw in having 4 different OCs on top of that.

Yeah, the line was pretty bad in 17. As far as JG, I wouldn’t call anyone bad as a freshman, unless they can’t secure the football. The o line in 2019 bullied everyone. We should have had one of the nations best offenses because people couldn’t stop our run blocking. We had a weak scoring offense, none the less.

I am not anti JG. I can’t accept someone blaming the o line because 2019 was as good as I can remember for TN. I can’t imagine us ever having three five star recruits playing O Line for us again. We’d be happy with all 4 stars as things are this season.

I find it really special how JG wanted to come back. He gave his all for Tennessee and I will always appreciate him for that. He took some nasty hits and always came back for more

Wasn't his doing that Pruitt kept starting him. Pruitt was desperate. He was not an SEC caliber QB but did his best on a bad team

Nah I will only remember him taking it upon himself to botch that play against bama.
Typical canniVol post. If JG cured cancer, rescued Dolly Parton from an Arthropleure, or threw a parade for your family, you'd still find cause to badmouth the guy. JG has more class in his clipped toenail than you JG haters. The guy despite being loathed for at least having the courage to try every game, despite everything, came back because the color orange means something to him; despite less than fond memories at the UT. But that's not good enough for JG haters, nope. To think an opponent knew how to show respect, when certain so called Vols are incapable of even thinking it.

I will NEVER forget when USC players exhibited 5 million light-years more class than you canniVols.

I dont mind any of those guys coming back to their former school. They were not very good here, partly their fault partly the situation they were in. Glad to see them back and smiling because TN is in a better place now

Extremely necessary to bring up how you didnt care for a guy who tried his best while he was at UT and stuck it out.
Message boards are designed for opinions…whether you disliked him or not, voicing your opinion is what we are here for…as for sticking it out…regardless of whether he was going to play or not and was forced out means nothing…he transferred to Wash St and stuck it out there. To some he may be a VFL but to others he certainly is not…which is another message board talking point. As for me…I ride the fence on it. Never fun to see a career end in a jersey that isnt ours though.

Poor you. Need a hug buddy? Hate is a strong word. I don’t know the guy. He may be a great person. Doesn’t make me a bad one for thinking his play was less than stellar while he was here. He did transfer if you don’t remember. I’d love for him to cure cancer, but yes I’d still remember that play against Bama. Take things to the extreme much? I’d suggest you head over to the Tampax isle. Get over yourself almighty. Bet you’ve never made an assessment of anyone.

JG had the skills, but was the victim of staff overturn and bad coaching. Had he played under Heupel, I'm sure things would have been different. Glad he still feels at home on Rocky Top, as he should.

Alabama and Florida, Georgia too are south of Tennessee. Pick the team you prefer and move there. We don't need another canniVol.

Yeah I didn't mean 2019. I just think JG was damaged goods at that point. I'm hoping we can keep Nico protected so that's not an issue for him. Good thing is he'll have better coaching.

If already posted I apologize, jg on sidelines during the game I won't lie I didn't care for him but the coaches sucked

JG played very hard, he just wasn't good. I don't hate the guy at all. You summed it up that the coaches kind of wasted him and messed him up.

That was a very dark time for Tennessee football but even he had his moments of greatness like winning at Auburn in 2018.

Yeah. JG was shell shocked after his first two seasons. Maybe a great offensive coach could have saved him like Crompton.

Buy me the house, set me up a trust fund and I’m there. I would prefer 2500-3K square foot and I’m fond of single level living. Oh and boats. I like boats. I have my own but since your offering I’d like a new one. Welcome to the internet where we criticize people and have opinions. You might be the biggest drama queen here. Grow up.

No, you're one of those things that, when something nice is said about a player or former player, uses the opportunity to drag up a past fault to hit them with. It's a pathetic attitude and behavior. It indicates a salamander level character, mockingly exhibits a lack of Vols pride, and we see it too often here, far too often.

The thread was about JG putting in a presence on a night of an iconic win, showing his pride in the orange, being here despite his less than stellar play when a player. Being here despite corrosive venom heaped on him during his time. His presence saying, "Despite everything, I was, am, and will always be a VFL." He deserved a salute, not the steaming lumps of horse manure you hurled his way. After all, he's what you're not-orange blooded, you poor thing.
