Jimbo Fisher gets hot about NIL accusations

TBH, aren’t all college football coaches like used car salesmen? They have to sell their school to recruits. Some have more to sell, some have less to sell. It is not like Jimbo didn’t have top 10 classes at Texas A&M before this year’s class.

#4, then #6, then #8…… went 9-1 in 2020 and beat Alabama this year. Most of the rank of a class is based on the previous year’s season …. You reap the rewards a year and a half later.

All schools are doing NIL. A&M supporters seem to be doing better at it.
100%. Just don't deny it after the fact or claim that it had nothing to do with signing the top class in the country. It had everything to do with it.

That is pure speculation (it being the main reason they got the #1 class), which is what everyone is doing. Dude named “Sliced Bread”, who isn’t even a reputable media source, came up with the allegations. So, basically, the media, other coaches, etc are running with this based on the word of a guy with no evidence.

It is not like Texas A&M has never gotten a top 10 or even a top-five class under Jimbo Fisher.

Funny enough - no one says anything about a 5-7 texas team, who lost to freaking Kansas, when they get a top 5 class.

Without a doubt TX is using NIL also.

Right, but you don’t see the media or other sitting coaches (cough Lane Kiffin) dogging and vilifying texas after they get a top 5 class AND actually advertise giving $$ to o-line, all after losing to Kansas and going 5-7.

Hell, Nick Saban was talking about Bryce Young having a million dollar NIL deal BEFORE ever taking a snap - no one is outraged. Quin Ewers takes a million at OSU (never plays a snap) - crickets.

All because Texas A&M isn’t a “blue blood”. Well, neither was Clemson (Clemsoning ring a bell?).

I just don’t see the same “outrage” when other teams are outwardly doing it…… but, we must be outraged, since “BroBible” and “Sliced Bread” told us about it.

Maybe because I'm a TN fan not an A&M, but I don't see any outrage about ya'll either. I see people claiming that the main reason you guys signed a historic class is due to NIL money, which I think is probably accurate.
So what it's legal. I see more jealousy than outrage. Wish our boosters ponied up to sign a class like ya'll did.

I think the easiest way to put this to bed is to file a Freedom of Information Request and see what A&M paid. Under the NIL rules, a University has to report what the player's receive.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoy listening to Jimbo who can certainly get fired up as well as Sam Pittman. He makes some excellent points throughout the interview - how tough recruiting is on assistants, the value of PWOs and the fact that success will boil down to how many individuals will compete and win playing time at the SEC level. I think it will be fun to watch how he can manage the player egos and which 5 stars turn out to be worthless for various reasons. Also fan expectations will be off the board. Good old SEC football at its maniacal best.

Honestly, we need A&M and Texas to challenge Bama and GA in recruiting. It will take a couple of 2nd place SECW finishes to force Saban into retirement. Add that to an improving Miami and FSU weakening Clemson, our recruiting will improve. We will start winning in recruiting and on the field against Bama again.

You start beating Saban on the field and in recruiting and you get his attention. You get his attention and....well, look at how that went for preacher Freeze. I'm gonna enjoy watching this play out.
I did not have any admiration for Jimbo until he forced Saban to lie about Bama never buying players.

How long is that gonna take for us to get back to even semi relevancy? I’m 45 hoping I live long enough to see it

Felt like I was watching Nick Nolte in Blue Chips when Ed Oneil asks about sketchy recruiting. His over the top reaction makes him seem guilty even if he isn’t. He personally probably didn’t do anything beyond the rules, but knows that some of the aggie boosters likely pushed the envelope and that it would all fall back on him if missteps were taken. Understandably has him wound tight. Bad look for Fisher to respond publicly like that IMO. Just creates further suspicion.

Pirate is out coaching a guy that was made famous for recruiting Crab Legs Winston. 70 MM guaranteed.
