All you have to do is hang onto the football. A touchdown would be great, but a field goal is fine. Fumble through the endzone.

Then, somehow, 'bama completes its one big pass of the day against one of the finest defensive performances I have seen in years.

You guys are jinxed and this is just plain looking like 'bama's year.

I am not going to say "good effort" a la Urban Meyer's cry fest last weekend because you don't want to hear it. Just condolences for a very, very tough loss to take.

Well, ya have to be able to score more than three points in a game. No CONSISTENT offense.

Thanks LG - we had the right game plan and the chances - just didn't close the deal.

Yup. As I say, so far 'bama's year of huge breaks to get to undefeated.

Tough ain't the word for it. I'm sick at my stomach I'm so disgusted. This is the worst team we've had in nearly two decades.

its not luck....this was only a matter of time...........fulmer and company have been scraping by for years now....every game they play is close, we never blow anyone out anymore.........it was only a matter of time before we started losing the close ones.

Tennessee is very conceivably 6-0 if not for themselves. You put a solid offense and something resembling special teams, and we are top 3 material easily. But that's neither here nor there. Tennessee has given themselves every reason to be where they are. If there's a way to lose, we'll find it, it seems (Baton Rouge notwithstanding).
I do have to say I think it would irresponsible at the very least to do nothing but critisize with the show our defense put on today. Must be POWERFULLY frustrating for them. Well, either way, even if the cards had fallen our way, I don't anyone's gonna stop a USC-Texas Rose Bowl. That one should be hot.
Now, I'm praying we'll beat Vandy.

we dont have horrible luck nc.

we have horrible coaching.

Why do you say that? I think the defensive game plan was obviously excellent. Offensively you just could not get going and when you did you fumbled but I think that's the players' fault in this case. Now, the one place where I would say that is not true is the punt fumble. He ought to know better and that one is the coaches' fault.

BTW, whatever happened to the halo rule? Guy was basically making out with him.

I hope they do go undefeated now and get left out of the NC game. Tough to see Auburn miss out. But Buck Fammers.

You guys will probably beat UGA now that Shockley is hurt.

Odd as this seems: thanks to the Gator fan for his sympathy. This was the most painful loss I've ever witnessed as a Vol fan. Holding a hungry Alabama team to SIX POINTS at home. . . .and losing.

Funny how much the Bama year is resembling our '98 run, eh?

Its the kind of loss where, as frustrated as you are, you just have to in the end shrug and say, "wasn't meant to be."

I sure wish I could do that, but to hold them to six and lose is eating at me. In a bad way.

Arian Foster really impressed me today. That kid has heart. Fighting for the extra yards. :hi: hats off, welcome to the BIG ORANGE NATION.

luck is a very objective term. Turnovers aren't bad luck, they're usually carelessness and lack of focus. Putting your helmet to the ball and knocking it out isn't good luck, it's aggressive play. And giving up the long ball to Bama at the end wasn't bad luck, it was failure to cover as well as we could've. Turnovers aren't bad luck. Penalties aren't bad luck. Dropped balls aren't bad luck. Blocked field goals aren't bad luck. Consistently running draw plays on third and long when it seldom works isn't bad luck; my point is that there are fixable things to contribute all of this to, and they aren't getting fixed. You have to start to look at those responsible for calling the plays and teaching the players not to do those things so frequently...yes, I think it's time for a change, but not necessarily at Fulmer's position. Say what you like, but his win percentage puts him with the elite in college ball. Randy Sanders is a cog in the wheel, IMO. I hope to see a change before next year.

lets hope jcrompton is as good as advertised. we could have a good offense then but for some reason, i have a bad feeling under our offensive coaches, he will regress.

I don't think next year will be so good for us either. A ton of new kids and changes. I think Crompton will get hot the following year.
