JJJ Vs Florida

JJJ appears to be a fine kid who wants to be a good teammate. I believe the nagging injuries have affected his quickness and explosiveness - but more significantly, the injuries have affected his confidence. I also believe he is confused at times about what Barnes wants. Coach is extremely tough on his point guards and also criticizes his players to the media. I like Coach, but I do not like his public criticism. I believe this was a contributing factor to Bone’s early departure. If anything, he needs to accept some of the blame publicly. He can be as tough as he wants behind closed doors.
The Vols will be very good next year. With departures and injuries, this season has been about as good as could be expected.
Injury slowed down his development. If you have ever had a groin injury, you know it's painful. You don't sit up in bed to get up, you roll on your side and push yourself up. Imagine trying to play basketball with all the quick movements you have to make; trying to rebound, block a shot, everything you do on a basketball court taxes your core muscles. I think he is finally over the injury and is showing what he can do. Next year could be a very exciting year for Vols basketball.

Groin injuries suck. Easy to re-injure and takes forever to heal. I suffered one in my early twenties and it took 2 years before I had no lasting discomfort.

Josiah took a lot of criticism this week. Well today he was the only player to play all 40 minutes, and he had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists (vs just two turnovers), 2 blocks, a steal, and was 4/8 from the field, and 2/4 from three. Led the team in minutes, rebounds, assists, and tied for the lead in blocks and steals. Oh, and zero fouls (Fulk had four, Santi and Yves three, JB 2)! We’d have a worse record by several games without him this year, and we’re lucky to have him. I’m excited to see him improve over the offseason and really excel next season
Very good game. He would have been more productive in the 2nd had Barnes given Jalen some minutes. No reason Jalen shouldn’t be getting more.

Though I object to your need to criticize Barnes in every single message you post, I don’t actually disagree with you here. I said it some last year and I still think it’s true that Barnes should rest the starters some more, I think it would probably help both at the end of games like you’ve said but even more so the end of the season

What you say about the impact his injuries have had is true. Some fans just don't care to see it. They'd rather be ignorant of or blind to such things so they can justify their insults. The pro scouts know better and are still after him. Btw, he has been hurt even more than fans know.

Barnes explained the limited substitutions and Time out policy in his Monday presser. take time to listen.

I think something clicked with JJJ while he was hurt and got to watch a couple of games on the bench. I think he finally realized his role on this team and what Barnes wanted him to do on the floor. It took him a couple of games to get back up to speed, but the light came on against Florida, as his health returned close to 100%. Now, UT and James are enjoying the benefits, hopefully it continues against Auburn, Saturday. This is now, the biggest game of the year, imo (well, duh). If the Vols beat Auburn and get at least one win in the SEC Tourney, I think we make "The Big Dance".

Aside from taking too many threes he had a good game. He can handle the ball and is a big body so he needs to be able to drive the ball and post up. He and Vescovi both had times where they seemed oblivious to the shot clock.

Yeah, I mean 2/4 from 3 is unacceptable...lol. At least he "can handle the ball and is a big body"

Add in the FL game and the last 2 games against quality competition he has 28 pts, 11 assists with only 3 to, 4/8 from 3, 5/9 from 2, and 15 reb all while playing 70 min.

I see you are choosing the "double-down" camp of VN posters who gave asinine takes on JJJ...would have been better if you had joined the #crickets camp of prognosticators. Go ahead and continue your schtick of nitpicking JJJ while heaping praise on 5'11" Ques Glover (who has scored only 15 pts in his last 7 games and has hardly played) since the common thread is all to bash CRB.

Oh, another post where you want to make it about me. Discuss the subject, disagree and get the **** over it. i never compared Glover to Josiah. The UF game is history. It was only relevant because that was who we were playing and both Pember and and Glover played for Bearden. Y’alls obsession is ****ing pathetic.

That 4 threes was too many, and even funnier considering he hit 50% of them. Lol
Glad you’re amused. He took two really bad shots where he stalled. One where it was clear he could drive the ball. He made up for it later with a nice drive and score. I thought overall he played a great game.

Nice to see strong back to back games against NCAAT opponents. He’s done what I think is going to be his biggest asset, get rebounds play defense and knock down open 3’s. He even showed some passing ability the last two games we haven’t seen

That pass in the first half down the court when Fulk beat Kentucky down the floor was a beauty
