Not trying to tell you what to do, just a piece of advice. Get a copy of Dave Ramsey's 'Total Money Makeover' and live by it. At your age, with your income, you will be set.

I wish I had known about it about 10 years before I read it.

Already have it. My Grandpa is huge on Dave Ramsey. They own lake houses beside each other on tims ford. It's a very good book.

So, wait a minute, your internet braggery, defending against the assertion that you live in a trailer, is to inform us that:

You are an hourly employee that lives with his parents....?

It was funny before.
yeah and I'm 21 years old. Where were you when you were 21? In a college dorm taking out college loans?

It's very comfortable, especially when you live with you parents.

And it's most definitely bragging. Bragging by self defense but bragging none-the-less. When he gets a little older, he'll probably realize that providing for oneself and their family is more respectable than disposable income.

Don't pretend to know his situation. Maybe he's helping provide for his parents or simply saving as much as he can now so he can start his own family. I don't know and it's really not mine or anyone else's business. Many young people live with their parents. Nothing disrespectable about it.

Dude I'm 21 and making 38 dollars an hour and have basically no bills. If you were in my spot you would be living a home still. I have a girlfriend but I'm not married. Why tf would I want to pay a ton of bills by myself. Not very smart.

What's your degree in? I might wanna check out this career field for myself.

A long long time ago I lived between Tullahoma and Winchester. Best place in the world imo. Have missed it since the day I left.

Settle down gobraves. Folks have defended you, me included, but you're gonna lose your equity quickly. Not everyone requires student loans to attend college. Even if they did, holders of bachelor degrees on average earn more in their lifetime's, so it's likely the loans will pay for themselves over the course of a career anyway.

I lived on my own at 17, worked/paid my way through college.

I'm not bagging on you for having an hourly wage, nor for living with your parents. I'm merely saying that "Ha! I don't live in a trailer; I live with my parents!" is a laugh-fest for some of us.

It's probably a generational thing. 25 years ago, we grew up, moved out, became our own man. Today (it's not just you), the idea seems to be "why would I want to pay my on bills?"

I gave this new generation the benefit of the doubt, blaming the whole 'grown men living with parents thing' on the poor economy and unemployment. I figured it was the hoplessness built into the generation by bad economic policy.

That was until I met an internet warrior that said, "I make $70ish thousand dollars a year with no debt. Why would I want to move out of my parents house?"

Thank you GL, I wasn't bragging at all. But when people on here talk crap about how much I make, it ticks me off. Like I said. I'm only 21 years old and I feel like I'm making very good for my age. Haters gonna hate.

$38/hr @ 21 is excellent. I didn't start making that kinda dough until I was 26 or so and I have the lovely misfortune of student loans

My dad passed away when I was 19. So I help my mom out the best I can. She's just a school teacher.

True true, settling down now. Thanks for backing me up bro.

In his defense, parents are much more coddling and/or willing to help their kids these days and the "move on, get a job, support yourself" mentality is rare. I'm 30 yrs old and have been married for 4.5 years and my mom begs us to move back home and help "fill the house". I don't need the financial freedom/support it would provide but it would be cool to not pay a mortgage if i didn't want to.

Just?!?!

Respect your mother for choosing to put helping others over a financial statement.

I know you didn't mean that but the point remains.
I know a lot of wealthy people who are miserable human beings.

He's posting it on the internet. Seems like he wants to make it public domain. I know as much as he's shared, and it seems to be a "why would I want bills?" statement.

Hey, my 18 year old son lives with my wife and I while he goes to college so that he doesn't accrue student loans. If my other adult kids fell on hard times and needed to, their rooms are waiting for them. Nothing disrespecable about it.

But "I don't live in a trailer; I live with my parents. Why would I want any bills?" is laughable to some of us. Not necessarily a razor's edge retort. lol

In any event; it's a passing interest to me. No big deal. I wish the young man much success. Just thought it was a funny way to defend his housing situation. I guess it's just a generational difference in values.

I know you are young but there may be a better way to say that. You may need more then Dave Ramsey. Regardless take care of your mom and let her know you love her everyday. That's all the advice I have not that you ask. Time to go decompress now it's been a long day but a good one. Go Vols

Good points. I have a habit of not fully reading before I post. Funny thing is earlier today I wouldn't have pissed on GoBraves if he was on fire and here I am trying to defend him. I try to see through the BS to what the real story is. They usually are not the same thing. Anyway it's been a day. Go Vols!!

If he's helping a struggling mom like he says, I have mad respect.

I'm not judging an entire generation. Like I said, the current economic state is stacked against this generation. My heart actually breaks for the legacy that's been left them.

But... Again... "I don't live in a trailer; I live with my parents" was funny. I don't care who you are.lol

They still can't grasp though how a 13th ranked 10-2 team was an 8.5 pt underdog to an 8-4 23rd ranked team and then lost 45-6.

It's called being overrated in a subpar conference.
It all goes back to the preseason rankings. No way in hell should tOSU have been ranked number 1 with the pathetic schedule they had.

Stop the insanity, and stop ANY rankings except Sagarin until week 8. This is what you wind up with, and this is the reason why.

GBO and suck it Florida.

That's a good strategy that I seem to have failed at this time, and seems to have been proven out in this very discussion.

Again, my apologies to GoBraves.

Im 23 and think most of my generation are lazy pos. I believe in becoming an adult and making your own life. Not judging anyone in this thread at all but i see why older people really struggle to understand this generation. Anyways glad the vols won today and we got two commits!
