Jobs Definitely Opening Up This Year

I don't think Petrino is going anywhere. If I recall his buyout is enormous. Plus he's in a major conference where he can continue to win.

He's a really good coach. Improved every team he worked for.

If you look at the biographies of Tom Herman and Willie Taggart, they are very similar. Almost the same age, offensive minded, and very good at recruiting local, urban talent. Taggart would do well at a place like Georgia Tech.

He would be absolutely insane to leave UL again. Will they ever have another Heisman type guy? Maybe not. But he can definitely keep them at a high level.

Agreed. I can't see Taggart, not getting an offer from a bigger school.

Agreed. Plus I think the media would tear his reputation to shreds if he did this to them again. If he wants to repair his legacy before he leaves then he can't walk out in UL. Everyone will be against him wherever he goes. JMO

USC is playing a little better...they beat a decent Colorado team last night so I doubt they fire Helton..so look for Texas to hire Herman

A source on Tom Herman: “Texas, he will take that all day long … unless USC comes calling." Via @chris_hummer

Kelly is gonna get a chance to rebuild. He has like a $20M buyout too. Right now I think

LSU
Texas
Purdue
Oregon
Baylor (obviously)

Kelly saved his own butt when he fired his DC. I'm one of the few that like ND and I think it's good for college football when they're doing well but Brian would throw his mom on the train track to keep that job

I think the loss to NC State burned any favor he gained when he fired his DC. The dude just wouldn't give up trying to air it out in a down pour.

It's not like running was working out too well either

He can get a better job than Purdue

Purdue is a complete mess right now but a interesting job for lower level coaches. B1G conference and its tv money/exposure, being in the west without Ohio State or Michigan, traditional fan base.

the issue was he was devoted to the run and it was clear as day when they were going to run. At least NC State kept multiple WR on the field and would do it play after play. Kelly was pass pass run.

its kinda like the Vandy job. No expectations and even getting to a bowl is an achievement. Franklin turned it into a pay check, Fleck might do something similar.

Tom Herman, P.J. Fleck, and Willie Taggart are the G5 guys who are going to get PAID after this season ends.

I think Herman is 99% gone from Houston now after the loss to Navy. No way they get into the Big 12 and he realizes that anything less than 12-0 means no shot at the playoff.

Edit - Love how PJ Fleck wears a tie during games. Brings back memories of long ago. :good!:

Vandy is staring at a possible 3-9 season. That's 3-9, 4-8 and 3-9 in Mason's tenure.

They may keep him another year, but that's not exactly a resume for making your case for another year. Mason has replaced nearly all the key positions on the staff over the past three years and it's gotten them nowhere.

By Vandy standards, Vandy is having a stellar year.

Yep. Louisville was in the Big East when he left them. They are in the ACC now and he doesn't have to leave to compete on the big stage.
