Jodie Meeks

I'll also add that I have had the chance to chat with Jodie's dad, and they're just good people. Jodie is a clean-cut kid with enormous basketball talent.

By the way, Tubby recruited him, not BCG. :)

Meeks was unreal nothing we could do. Best individual performance by a guard I have seen since Chris Jackson.

Sure there was, we could have played defense. We needed CJ Watson to welcome Meeks like he did Joann Noah. We just stood there and watched him. Our biggest effort in guarding him was raising our hand, like a salute to Hitler.

Let me rephrase...saying we stood there implies we had to give a little effort to stop him. We bent over.

ok im getting really tired of hearing all the he waswide open all night. i can remember on 2 or 3 occasions that he was OPEN out of 14 attempts. The majority of his shots there was a defender there with hishand in his face, and i can remember ona few occasons Tabb, Tatum, and Chism jumping or rightin his face and contesting his shot and it going in. In my opinion the defense was not tha bad on him, he just couldnt miss ad there really want much more the D could do besides foul him and you definetely didnt wanna do that the way he was shooting. He shot 77% frm 3 and 68% from the field, like previously said on here id give him racks of balls and i guarantee he wouldnt hit 10-13 again.

Meeks played great. We've let five players have career highs against us this year. Our defense is just horrible.

no i do aree with that that 5 players have gone off on us and dionte christmas was way too open ALL GAME, i cant think of the others off hand. i agree our defense has been weak but i tHought its started to look better and i thought it looked good against kentucky (minus meeks even though hehad more than half their points) but we did hold Patterson down nicely, Meeks just went off like nothing ive ever seen.

Meeks went off, yes. Its becoming a reoccuring trend. We play good defense at times, then none at all at other times. If they don't get better fast, making the dance is going to be tough for this bunch.

Yes defenitely they have been very inconsistent on both end of te floor. In myopinion both Tyler and Wayne have both been pretty consistent on both ends. Tyler continues to get it done but with no help around him, and Wayne has been playing great on both ends and outplayed Patterson last night. We just need the young guys to follow in their footsteps and start playing with the intensity and passion that the do on both ends.

Tyler's knee is clearly bothering him, he isn't as fast as he was last year. Wayne has played well of late, the young guys don't have a clue what it takes to be successful at this level yet.

No they really dont seem to have a clue, i just really wish Maze would start playingm He is capable of much more on O and thatd really help our O out.

The daniel west thing really was a big blow to our season. Maze could play better for sure, but he just looks slow to me.

Yea defenitely. I see signs from him like at the end of the game last night were he crosses people over and gets to the hoop and finishes. He also made a crossover and then pulled back for a jumper and it looked smooth. I just think that if he would drive and try to score more it'd really benefit us. dont know if Pearl WANTS him to just stand around the perimeter or what i dont get it.

Standing there lazy and flat-footed and then trying to run out and put a hand up 2 seconds too late when you realize someone has an open look does not constitute a "contested shot."

All it takes is a ball screen and its wide open looks for everyone against the farce that is called UT's defense.

Best post about UT basketball to date.

as i stated the D could have been better but there was some cntested shots. and like i said 75% plus from 3??? he couldnt do that by himself in the gym.

Dude, that's crazy. Most every good 3 point shooter in college ball shoots 75% from 3 without defense and just shooting around.

I'd take that bet any day of the week.....
