With the Memphis allegations, does that put us in the front of the Joe Jackson sweepstakes?

There are whispers that Pearl thinks they have a chance. Heard that yesterday morning...

Or if he has been in contact with World Wide Wes.

speaking of which, just found this

looks like some interesting news about jon cal and memphis could be coming out soon with the NCAA investigation. both evans and rose were wes's "nephews". here's to hoping UK somehow gets screwed in this whole ordeal:clapping:

It isn't news, but it is certainly interesting. I have several goals in life. One of those goals is to meet World Wide Wes. And not just meet him, but actually have a conversation with him.

Tennessee has a chance if (and only if) Memphis gets put on probation, which in light of what is yet to come out ...could be a possibility.

Keep dreaming that Memphis is put on probation over this. Not going to happen.

JJ going to Memphis, book it. Grown up wanting to play for the Tigers, likes Pastner, and would start immediately.

Pretty much the way I see it playing out.

Which "might" help in getting Black and Thomas as well.

Yes. He is still an irresistable force when it comes to recruiting and marketing a program. Can't fault him for leaving. There were only 3-4 programs he would have left Memphis if offered. You would kill to see him in an orange blazer. Not that he would have ever taken the step back or donned such a hideous jacket.

No, we would not kill to see him at UT. Especially after his best season at each of his previous college stops is invalidated.

He told Jason Smith (Commercial Appeal's prep writer) that, "I can't believe we got the Barton brothers." Jason asked him if he just said "we" and JJ immediately tried to change it to "Memphis" and said, "you know what I mean."

Not saying this means anything, just found it funny.

Invalidated by who? Ask the fans of those schools, and college basketball fans for that matter, if those teams records were invalidated. Just because the NCAA chooses to go after some schools while ignoring others (i.e. Ohio States 1999 Final Four for example), doesn't mean those teams' accomplishments are invalid. Any college football or basketball team that has had any major success has some impropriety going on either knowingly or unknowingly.

Invalidated by the NCAA - like it never happened.

Tennessee has never been to a Final Four. When we get there for the first time, it would break my heart to find out we used ineligible players, have been stripped by the NCAA, and must take the banner down.

I do not want Calipari at UT.

This statement is ludicrous and will only be made by a fan of a school that's won with impropriety.

You don't have to worry about that, do you?

No, I don't.

I was responding to the Memphis fan in this thread saying that UT fans would kill to see Calipari in an orange blazer. I for one wouldn't.

It's Calipari.
I guess you don't want to see this program going to Final Fours then, huh?

Thanks for the spell check. Not sure what got me started on spelling his name wrong today.

There are other coaches besides Calipari who can take UT to a Final Four. I want a Final Four that won't be invalidated a year later.

Yeah, the 'AA's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind act really made people forget the Fab Five. I'm sure people in Amherst have forgotten Marcus Camby ever played at UMASS. Poor Memphis fans are faced with not being able to remember crushing Michigan State, Texas, and UCLA in the tournament last year if the 'AA chooses to unleash their Manchurian Candidate quality mind control devices on them. Tragic.
