While I would disagree, I get that Milton needs to prove it on the field this year.

24. Joe Milton III, Tennessee
Milton III might be the hardest quarterback to rank in the SEC. The size (6-foot-5) and physical traits to go with the strongest arm in college football is an intriguing skill set. Also, Milton is coming off his best performance in a Tennessee uniform, completing 19 of 28 throws for 251 yards and three touchdowns in the Orange Bowl win over Clemson.

However, Milton's previous production on Rocky Top and at Michigan was average (2,289 yards and 14 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 56.7) and filled with inconsistent play. Milton's ability to hit the home-run passes aren't in question. But can he be more consistent overall and display better accuracy and efficiency?

Everyone knows the backup quarterback is always the best player on the team!

Nah really Freak, I think Joe is the Man, and will show out this season. We saw what he is capable of vs Clemson. He should be even better this fall. He was the star at the Manning camp. So let's go Joe!

Given the choice, if you could have Hooker on the roster for one more year, would you take him over Milton?

Fair enough...I would say yes, to Hendon only if we get the Hooker that is pre-injury (obviously) and pre-USCe.
People point a lot to the Defense in that game, but Hendon didn't make the best decisions and choices early on there either.

I'm usually a big fan of Athlon Sports and the product they put out is typically spot on, but I really do think they have it wrong this time around.
IMO - Joe is, and will prove to be, one of the Top 5 to 6 QBs in college ball this year.

Biggest issue with that is all the pressure it puts on Nico next year, but we'll handle that when it gets here.

Yeah, so them ranking him 24th tells us how they ranked "bad Joe."

24 obviously = their average of Good Joe and Bad Joe. Since they don't yet know which one he'll be in 2023.

And since Good Joe = 1, that means Bad Joe must be ranked somewhere around 47 or 48.

Let's get Good Joe, and the point becomes mute, pre madonna, complete with french benefits.

Go Vols!

Curious to know where FL's Anthony Richardson ranked last year at this time... ESPN and many of the other pundits always crowed about his physical abilities. Was he 24th?

25. Anthony Richardson, Florida
Upside and potential are the two words most often mentioned about Richardson going into the 2022 season. New coach Billy Napier is tasked with harnessing and developing the enormous talent Richardson has, and the ’21 campaign provided plenty of insight into the type of player he can become. As a redshirt freshman last fall, Richardson ran for 401 yards and three touchdowns on just 51 carries and connected on 38 of 64 passes for 529 yards and six touchdowns. Although the Gainesville native made only one start (Georgia) and never attempted more than 20 passes in a game, he made the most of those opportunities with an average of 8.1 yards per touch. Can Richardson turn the upside and potential into more consistent (especially through the air) production this fall? If he can, this spot will be too low on our list by December.
