While I would disagree, I get that Milton needs to prove it on the field this year.

Kinda hard to give them much credence when their numbers aren’t even accurate. They say he has had 14 career TDs, according to his career stats on ESPN he’s thrown 17 (not counting post season), they say 2289 yards it’s actually 2540 & I'm sure their completion percentage is inaccurate as well.

Fair enough...I would say yes, to Hendon only if we get the Hooker that is pre-injury (obviously) and pre-USCe.
People point a lot to the Defense in that game, but Hendon didn't make the best decisions and choices early on there either.

Exactly right! I've watched Hooker (And I love that guy to death for the Miracle Season AND the bama finish , although the Fumble gave them a free TD) but He missed a ton of reads , took sacks when he had guys open in quite a few games. So nobody's perfect, but I'm ready for Joe....

Pretty much only numbers 1 & 2 on this list are locks. Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are future NFL stars imo.

Anybody know if tayven is the starter I was really rooting hard for him to stay and play behind Nico for a couple years then take over as a senior but I knew that was unrealistic in this era… he has shown nothing but class in the way he left and since he has been at IU… fully understand his decision and I will be rooting for him to be great he has a ton of potential.

It seems like their (Indiana’s) expected starter is injured right now. Allen has not announced who the starter will be in their opener but has said it could be Tayven or the other backup depending on who does best in practice. Since their first game is against Ohio State and will be a blowout loss, I expect both QBs will get a fair amount of playing time.

Joe Milton has a decent completion percentage, but when he misses it tends to be spectacularly overthrown. So the perception doesn't quite meet reality. It's not fair but it is what it is. I think Heupel is just looking at data and he's not too worried about a safety running half way down Kingston Pike to grab a Milton overthrow.

I get it, because it's kind of like the perception among my friends that I only dated crazy women in college. It did not matter that 90% percent of my gfs were completely sane, because that last 10% was Arkham Asylum material.

I think some critics have been a little too harsh concerning Milton not looking good here in 2021 when he started. Hendon had been through spring practice and had time to get acquainted with the offense. Milton had only been on campus a couple of weeks and was then thrust into the limelight immediately. After Hooker took the job, there wasn’t any question that he was going to be the man for the next two years (unless you were a Harrison Bailey fan who was in denial).

Milton has now been in the system for 2 full years and looked great (vs Clemson) at best and efficient (vs Vanderbilt in some rough weather conditions) at worst.

We will see what happens this year, but I have no doubts about his ability to be as good as anyone in the country. Whether it happens or not is another question, but he’s a better QB than he’s been given credit for being.

coach heupel says his accuracy has greatly improved. i hope he's right.

I have read multiple analysis’s of CJH on Joe and he has gone out of his way to indicate Joe has done very well in LOTS of critical areas with the position and I don’t see why he would oversell that for Joe and him to live up to. I feel confident we have the skill guys in place, just don’t know how the OL will do AS A UNIT. Don’t have a real feeling either way.

Oh I bet two years ago Hendon hooker was rated probably 50th or 60th. This kind of psychobabble means absolutely nothing until these young men take the field. I believe Joe has had all the training and coaching and experience he needs to be a top-five elite quarterback in our country. Joe Milton will prove them wrong. Put it in the books
