Joe Milton outlook?

Not intentionally doing so. I just think he's an unknown as is the move of Mincey and Crawford to the right side. I like that competition though.

I appreciate Ollie Lane. I'm grateful for the heart and effort he's shown. But that OG position is the one that troubles me most.

It's nice to have Lane. He has a lot of experience and can be a great backup. But I don't want to have to count on him as the starter. Karic needs to win that job.

Don't have a clue, but hope he is the better option when we need 1 to 2 yards on critical 3rd and 4th downs. The rest is gravy at QB FOR ME.
He should be a Cam Newton/Tim Tebow if we use him that way. Hugely athletic, big body.

Actually, it just shows how we fans presume and assume about stuff we don't know anything about. I like to think most of us know this, so just post our opinion without vilifying the players. That said, I think this coming season, we'll see Joe run more, I doubt as much as Hooker did, certainly more than we've seen to date. Being a Heup squadron, we will always pass the ball a lot. However, I see us becoming more of a running team in 2023. We have the horses for it, and in abundant numbers for rotating. We have opponents expecting us to pass, so positioned to defend it heavily. Meaning they will spread out, leaving gaps up front to be slashed by our RBs. In this setup, I believe the Heup will have Joe run more to complicate things for opponents' defenses. I traveled back to the 1950s, and asked Dick, Jane, Sally, and Spot about this. They said:

Run, Joe, Run
See Joe Run?
Run, Run, Run

You and our opponents should probably study last year's Vols a lot more then. We run MORE than we pass (523 rushes versus 422 passes).

Yeah, well, I'm referring to our opponents' perception of us as a passing team. I think we have brainwashd them to that. Then just exploit it.

It's not about our opponents thinking we pass more than we run. It's about our coaching staff spreading the defense out so much that it forces the opponent to tip their hand before the snap. The way that we were able to efficiently push the ball down the field through the air with Hooker, a lot of teams chose to try to defend the pass and take their chances with our running game.

Don't care, it's just an opinion I have, right or wrong. In the end, I want our opponents bloodied, beaten, stomped, burrito rolled, and believing they're a Del Taco dish. One way or the other. Actually, I think we're saying the same thing about how we play and what opponents presume about our team.

First off this is not a feeble attempt at trolling, I hope you folks that remember me understand that’s not why I’m here. No, honestly I’d just like your opinions or honest outlooks for Milton. I’d ask the same on my home team forum and while there are a few that try to give honest evaluations there are many more that don’t care and just post something ridiculous and basically just repeat the “overthrow Joe mantra”.

My uneducated opinion, as I very likely know much less about Milton than you folks is that I honestly think he could potentially be very good in CJH’s offense. He looked promising in the bowl game against Clemson. He without doubt has an arm that is capable of making any throw at this level or the next. And it isn’t uncommon in college football to see a QB that struggles early in his career really shine towards the end. And correct me if I’m remembering wrong, but didn’t he beat out Hooker to begin the 2021 season?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a GA fan so I don’t want to see Milton take my Dawgs to school. But I’m also a CFB fan so I’d be pleased to see an overlooked older player get things together and do well. So what are your thoughts VolNation? Can Milton shine in 2023? Seems like a CJH offense is a pretty good setting for him to me.
Physically he’s as talented as any QB walking the face of the planet as far as his arm. That said he’s been inconsistent when he’s been given opportunities. Doesn’t play as big as he is physically when he runs with the ball. Makes questionable decisions at times. So to answer he can be more than just a decent player; he could be absolutely dominant if he has it together between his ears. Will he? Hell I don’t think even the most knowledgeable know that.

I have a shocking suggestion. It's utterly electrifying.

All doubters, judgmentals, anti-Miltons, and other fringe negaVols. Shut up about Milton's past faults and such, and let HC do his job. Seriously.

Noted.

It’s a message board not an echo chamber. Most, although I would grant you not all, want more than anything for Milton to be successful. He’s about as good a teammate as anyone could ask for. That said we’re going to continue to talk about where he can improve.

Yep, a message board. I posted a message, so I'm in compliance.

I believe Joe Milton will absolutely ball out this year. Gonna see him running over some cb's n throwing bombs. Ima get a lil crazy n predict he beats UGA, by 10! Lol that would be awesome anyways.

Nah, I don’t think it’s such a crazy prediction. The game is in Neyland, so that helps. It’s really hard to tell this far out. It’s certainly a given that UGA will be tough based on talent alone, but who knows.

I know I’m going to regret this but, you, of all people, want others to “shut up”?
