Sources saying Paterno is near death as of this morning... family summoned to his bed-side today (CBS Sports).

Wow.

edit: not dead yet, heard it wrong.

Sad... I'll be praying he recovers but I'll also be praying he goes to a better place. All the crap surrounding him and the program is messed up but without knowing how much he really knew or what all went down behind the scenes, I couldn't be excited about his death. It's not like he molested little kids and although times change and he has an obligation to report the stuff(if he knew, kinda sounds like he did), he grew up in a different time period. Not that it's an excuse but I really don't know how involved he was. Not like he was the one molesting the kids. Anyways... what a horrible way to leave life. I guess stress and losing something you love can quickly take a toll. Seriously sad

Lung cancer by 2nd hand smoke. Sad.
Then smokers use to complain when people didn't want to breathe their smoke.

Could care less with what he allowed to happen at that school. If he let that go on, El Diablo will see him before he sees the pearly gates.

and its the beginning of the end for Penn State football. Oh how I've waited for this time when their fb program can just rot away as well as their fans.

Cancer is a very serious and oftentimes sad thing...honestly, I have to admit I was kind of bothered when so many people started claiming this was all just a convenient story / made up / etc when news of his cancer first was released

Say what you will but CJP is a good man. His fatal flaw (poor choice of words) was putting the program above doing the right thing. I don't judge him by that alone. If he is the kind if man I think he is the punishment of failing at the one thing he holds dear is enough. As for his cancer I wish him the best.
