I remember that thread, it was about Sandusky's lawyer knocking up a 16 year old (which is the age of consent in the state it happened in.) I posted that if it was within the law of the land you cannot argue with it, and that the bible had 13-15 year old girls marrying 85-90 year old men, so that it was fine there. I said it was creepy as hell for a 40 year old to be banging a 16 year old, but it's completely legal where they were so it wasn't an argument on if it was or wasn't wrong.

Probably not. I don't view life as either good or evil. I think there are a ton of gray areas. I don't think Joe Pa was some great man in life. JMO.

He also said that he had taken showers as a young kid with adults and thought nothing was wrong with it.

No. The problem was an argument was made that there is nothing wrong with a 60 yr old man showering with a 9 yr old boy, and that if a 9 yr old is mentally able to decide about having sex, that it would be ok because it's his/her body.
I seem to recall the thread pretty clearly.

I did not read that part. I stopped reading the topic after I made my one post because I knew the people who thought one way would keep arguing and the people who thought the other would too.

Damn, that's creepy on a bunch of levels then.

RIP Joe Pa. Lung cancer is just awful. I'm sure they could have put a stop to it if they would have caught it earlier. The doctors wish they could have done more, I would imagine.

The criticizing and joking about this is somewhat disturbing. Joe Pa was part of one of the most horrific football scandals I've seen in recent years, but I still think he deserves better. I'll probably wait about a decade before I say anything about it.

he never got the chance to enjoy any retirement.

it's really sad how everything happened so fast from being fired, to passing from cancer. He never got to enjoy college football from a fan perspective.

what's sad is he allowed a child rapist to use PSU facilities. But of course the enjoying cfb as a fan is very important too

Haven't talked much about JoePa. He was wrong, and his legacy will always be tainted now.

Part of me really wonders if he had any real situational awareness or frame of reference for what happened with Sandusky. I have an 85 year old grandad that is of sound mind and body, and he wouldn't have any idea what to do with this kind of information. Not an excuse just a thought.

In regards to retirement...I think JoePa did exactly what he wanted to do. He coached until he died, and the boneheads at State College were stupid enough to let him do it.
