He also predicted a run to the WCWS for the softball squad.

He’s not really going out on a limb there. A prediction for Sweet Sixteen, imo, is the absolute floor for this team. John Adams ain’t got a hair on his ass. I’ll go Final Four and possibly eat crow. It’s a silly preseason prediction.

I agree. I predict Final Four. I also agree that Adams and silly go together. GBO.

I agree that the Lady Volunteers have the potential for a Sweet Sixteen and Women's College World Series runs.

It is always fun to go back at the end of each season and see how close the records are to surpassing the pre season pronostications.

Who else remembers the late Holly years when we started hoping to just make the tournament? And now the Sweet 16 is the floor. Change has happened quickly.

Indeed it has. Recruiting is gaining steam as well. We are two “Booms” away from the naysayers disappearing for a brief stint as usual!

Well you can add at least one notch to whatever Adams, the perpetual grump, predicts. But I like him, at least he's an honest curmudgeon and not a shill whose job depends on butt kissing UTAD.

On paper, we def need to take the next step and reach the E8 with this improved roster. But ultimate successful finish is "we'll know it when we see it" for me. The "musts" in my view are we must win more than the paltry one game against elite competition and KJH must show she can coach a truly elite player to reach her max performance.

If those happen, the finish should take care of itself, as should future recruiting.

right. so the teams earn the right to the easier path. I don't know about it not being too hard. You'd have to ask the other 52 teams who didn't make it how hard it is.... or the bunch of teams who've never made one how each they think it is

We'll see what we look like during the season. You need to be good but also have a little luck to get past the sweet sixteen. In the women's game you try to earn those two games at home to get to sixteen then luck of the draw and location are big factors in going further. I think were one of the top eight teams hopefully we play like were that good.

To be fair to the room, John Adams is an LSU, uh, let's say supporter, who has taken many opportunities - some subtle, some decidedly unsubtle -- to dump on Tennessee's athletic department over the years. Some of it's been unsbtle enough that you'd expect to see it from rags in Gainesville or Atlanta before you'd ever see it in Knoxville's local papers. He doesn't need to fawn, but his snarky commentary wore out ages ago. I remember when the KnoxNews site started asking users to pay for their sports writing. Ha. I laughed pretty hard at that one.
