John Curry and Schiano

Outside the state of Tennessee their remarks will be deemed appropriate. Schiano is innocent until proven guilty in 49 other states. Thanks to the Knoxville sports media he should face the gallows. Considering our fan base keeps up this hoax ESPN probably will continue to mock us.

If you really want to be objective about this you need to press how this all started in the UTAD.

Sorry you think so little of your fellow fans. People didn't want ANYONE connected with what happened at PSU as HC at Tennessee. Period.

There is sworn testimony that Schiano knew of the assaults and failed to report them. Is that true? I have no idea, but someone committed perjury if it isn't.

Whether he should have, or shouldn't have, faced anything for this is not for any of us to say. And it is irrelevant.

There were simply a lot of fans who wanted no part of that attached to our program. If that offends you, sorry.

Grow up. He is as questionable about the pedo state stuff AND had toxic issues with three other teams including the NFL. Patterns exist for a reason.

I am not a Schiano fan and would not like for him to be our coach. Show me his indictments. Otherwise, I consider him innocent until proven guilty. The testimony people talk about was debunked.

Never said he should be head coach at UT. Just saying the facts about him are totally different outside the state of Tennessee.

You can guarantee that if Rutgers wins this game Herbstreit, Thammel, Forde, and especially Wolken will absolutely find a way to take a dig at us!
We're not going to have to worry about that, Wake Forest will demolish them...Rutgers sucks.

Indictments don’t mean anyone is guilty. As one attorney said “I could indict a ham sandwich”

Would you welcome OJ Simpson as an assistant coach if it wouldn't take away from his hunt for the "real killers"?

The fact that he is innocent of a crime is not a sufficient qualification for being the football coach at UT. Of these 49 states you mention, I see only one that has a university that was eager to hire Schiano.

ESPN does a good job televising football games. Beyond that I could not care less about ESPN.

Maybe Schiano knew maybe he didn’t, it’s his word against that coward ginger McQueary.

That still doesn’t negate the fact that Schiano was offered “0” P5 HC positions other than us and Rutgers, he was even passed over for the interim job at suckeye university.

Please do not question @Boston Vol on NCAA stuff, he knows more than all of us
I appreciate the kind words but Bamawriter probably knows more than I do. In a former life, as in my first 2-3 years in college, my goal was to be an AD at either a SEC or B10 school. Because of that I worked part time in the UVA athletic department and started paying attention to coaching contracts, media rights deals, and stuff of that nature. The college football coaching carousel is one of my favorite times of the year.

I love the coaching carousel and the business of college sports because it's like business in the real world, except on cocaine and crystal meth.

I'll tell you, I am not a big fan of Schiano (although a decent HC) but there is a virtual dossier of 50+ pages on the Sandusky affair and all the coaches that worked there at the time by the FBI. Not a shred of evidence, not a shred, was found finding Schiano guilty of anything. Larry Johnson (OSU DL coach) was there also during this time period. Nobody has ever accused him of anything and he would have been just as susceptible as Schiano of knowing if that indeed was true..... To knowingly smear and defame a man's character just because you don't like him is unconscionable. It's as foul as can be.

Seems weird that Florida State wasn't considered to a replace a bowl team for a bowl game in Florida. You know their fans would travel substantially better for a local game than Rutger fans would travel, especially last minute.

We should’ve hired Schiano over Cornbread
He’d have been better than Pruitt. He also seemed too much rah rah like Butch with a personality of Muschamp. Wouldn’t have been a long term solution. Maybe at Rutgers where he knows they lay if the land with NJ HS coaches. He’ll do OK there.

It’s because that’s not how the rules in place work for inviting teams with 5-7 records due to there not being enough bowl eligible teams.
When it comes to 5-7 teams, bowl invitations have to be extended based on APR scores. The bowl has to extend invitations to schools in order, starting with the highest APR score. The only way a school lower on the list can get an invite is if all the 5-7 programs above them choose to decline.

Rutgers had the highest APR out of all the 5-7 teams and immediately chose to accept the invitation rather than decline it.

I don’t know exactly how many teams would have had to reject the Gator Bowl for it to get to a point that FSU could have been offered…but a lot would have had to pass on the game.

Also the two teams already played this season. That scenario in a regular bowl game generally has historically just resulted in less fans attending and lower TV ratings.
