Guys I have never been more proud of a vol than I was of John Fields tonight. Fields was there to enjoy the show and ended up signing autographs for about 30 or more kids and some adults; great gesture on his part to do that on his time. One kid asked him and to sign and the rest just swarmed him. He signed until the second half of the game started and the security guard moved everyone away.
Great show tonight by the globetrotters; brings back memories for me of Medow Larklemon and crew when I was kid. Took my kids they had a blast hope it was as memorable for them. Some interesting things tonight to instigate the fans the Washington General's coach told the crowd something to the fact "no wonder lane Kiffin left after seeing this crowd." The funniest thing and I kid you not there were people leaving with 1 min plus to go. The TBA crowd was maybe 8k people and they were leaving early to beat the crowd. Old habits are to beat. It was hulariuos anyway great show anyone else go?

Wonder if you could be talking about Meadowlark Lemon ??

Uh oh. That may be the last mistake you ever make.

I should have elaborated. I too thought that John's numbers and talent would have transitioned better coming from the Colonial. Had he come from the competition of the Big South (UNC Ashville) I would have lowered my expectations a bit. He provided a spark early in the season but has faded dramatically down the stretch.

I got to tell a story from long ago about the globetrotters--and it goes back about fifty years. They played the generals one night in the chilhowee park facilities. (excuse me but i never was too good at spelling those indian names--packistani either) anyway, goose tatum was the man. I think marcus hayes was still on the team too in 1960. At halftime , goose put on an exibition i will never forget. He stood on the foul line and tossed balls at the other backboard. That is reght--on the other end from the foul line, he tossed balls at the far basked. It took him a couple of tries to warm up, then he threw one after the other into the hole. His hand was so big it looked like he was tossing a softball, and he tossed it the length of the floor and time after time he made the basket. Any of you guys there that night???

Could he hold onto the pen?

No, but he missed plenty of easy pen putbacks under the basket. :) I love Fields effort but he's very limited in what he can provide on the court.

Between him and Williams we've had a wheelbarrow load of gimmies left on the table. However, without both of them we wouldn't be in the NCAAT either.
