I know im going to be blasted for this one, but i couldn't help resist getting all the JM fanboys around here riled up.

Songwriting White to me wins hands down, guitar playing i think it's a push, even though White is a three or four chord guy with simplistic blues rhythm what he does with it is ridiculous.

So i cast the one and probably only vote for Jack White...

Make that two votes for Tennessee's son. He understands the music he plays far better than John 'D-bag' Mayer will comprehend his blue-eyes blues.

Plus, his other projects are just as good. That album he did with Loretta Lynn? Effing brilliant.

I like both artists A LOT. I tend to dig White's stuff a little more than Mayer's as of recent. I've noticed a lot of Mayer's recent work sounds the same.

It's difficult to choose. I don't know if I can. They are so different...however at the moment I am into The Dead Weather so White gets my vote. Also...Icky Thump is one of my favorite songs.

Just wondering why you call him Tennessee's son? I realize he lives in Tennessee, but he's from Detroit.

I'm a big Jack White fan, so you know who my vote goes to.

Tennessee is where he got his lift off.

Also, three words: Memphis and Franklin. I've heard him at multiple concerts attributing his inspiration to the former and his love for the state to the latter. This is where he calls home.

Are you guys voting on who you like better or who you think is better/more talented?

They are complete opposites, hard to compare them against each other cause there is such a huge contrast in styles.

In my mind Mayer is a better singer/songwriter and he is certainly a better guitar player.

If listening to Jack, it's Black.

What do you mean he understands the music he plays better than Mayer?

What does that even mean and how would you know anyway?

Mayer = cookie cutter.

White = unconventional, unorthodox, original.

The musician that takes a lot of risks and manages to pull it off well obviously has a deep understanding for the music he plays.

You're seriously asking me how I can say the composer of "Your Body Is A Wonderland" is less of a risk taker than the genius behind "Icky Thump?"

I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. Well done sir, well done.

JW is a more talented musician than JM. JW is epic.

Why so much JM hate, though? Because he banged JS and JA and JLH...and god knows who else?

I'm out of the loop on new music but I always liked Jack White. Just listened to Catch Hell Blue Eyes and I couldn't help but notice it sounded a little like Primus from back in the day.

I'm not following. That's the last band it would remind me of.
