is a clown. I hope the Arkansas athletic department kept the resumes from their last coaching search handy. How he convinced someone to give him an SEC job is beyond my belief.

I'd love to have seen that - then he'd get beat down shortly after.

Its funny to see Kentucky fans still defending on him saying stuff like: "I hope people don't judge John unfairly because he's an amazing coach but is in a horrible situation and Arkansas is making him look bad." etc.

How do they explain the fact he did absolutely nothing at South Alabama?

I remember a lot of my UK friends wanting him as the next coach before Gillispie arrived.

Travis Ford's name was thrown around quite a bit as well.

Maybe they can get Jamal Mashburn.

this year is definitely a disappointment for the Hog faithful. I have friend who is an Arky fan and he had high hopes for this year, especially after their strong non-conference showing.

I'm sure Mark Pope or Jared Prickett could use work.

They had a really good team last year and won one ballgame and that was against UT in the SEC tourney.

Why high hopes. They're awful. Washington could play wit some work, but beyond him and without Beverly, they have nothing.

Not Kentucky related, but what do you think about Brad Stevens?
He's certainly off to a great start in his career. The fact they are doing it this season with a number of freshmen contributing bodes well for his future, in that it tends to show he wasn't just a guy who was fortunate to inherit a good team from Lickliter last year.

Pitino carries a lot of weight.

Yep, and an awfully impressive coaching tree. After seeing guys like Tubby Smith, Herb Sendek, Billy Donovan, and Jeff Van Gundy go on to impressive careers after working with Pitino, I can see why a not-so-basketball-savvy Athletic Director would give Pelphrey a shot, expecting to get similar results.
