The players are showing progression, a sign of good coaching. Fans were showing frustration which, believe it or not, is a good thing. Frustration builds from passion and passion means we still care. Every fan wants what's best for the team, we just don't always see eye-to-eye on what's best.

Hate is not the opposite of love, apathy is. When apathy sets in, which it has to some degree, then you have problems.

There was a lot of passion in the stadium today. It was very nice.

... who lost in OT to the #6 team and beat the #12 team... just saying.

The UGA that UT played in the 2nd half 2 weeks ago isn't/wasn't the #6 team. That's the same team that lost to Mizzou and Vandy. That's the same team UT had beaten but let slip away.

My response to your points:

1. Worley may be our best chance at winning right now, but let's not kid ourselves and think he's played great. I really hope the FR develop in the offseason because we need more from the QB position.

2. CBJ does seem conservative with much of his playcalling. That's not always bad, but we are a fan base desperate for wins after so much losing. We want to see some chances taken. It seems natural to me after the seasons we've suffered through recently. That said, CBJ only has to keep winning for the fanbase to stop criticizing.

3. I still like Lane better. No offense meant to Neal.

4. What happenned to Tiny today? Clowney was in his head or something. Coaches need to get with him and help him get his head straight because he is a much better player than he showed today.

5. I don't think CBJ has made any Vol fans look stupid. He's a man doing his job. We're fans providing the revenue that pays his check. Fans complain about what they see at the moment. CBJ knows what he has to work with. Ultimately, he wants to please us. The best way to please any fan is "just win baby".

My only 2 points to your points on my points is that I'm not saying Worley is Bray I'm saying Jones knows what he's doing he stuck with Worley because he gives us the best chance.

Also, Lane is a good runner and runs hard and picks up nice yardage. Yet Lane would be the featured back if he was the better of the 2.

My biggest complaint with Worley is that he will not run with the ball more. He's had some open field in front of him a few times. When he does run he gets positive yardage. Maybe he's afraid of getting hurt because we only have freshmen behind him. I dunno.

"Worley shouldn't be in there! No way he's our best chance at winning!"

"Playcalling sucks! It's so vanilla! I don't care if they can't execute simple plays, open up the playbook!"

"Lane is so much better than Neal!"

"O line is sooooo overrated! Won't miss them much next year!"

Let's end the argument there. Don't see a need to continue. I'd say Jones has made plenty of us Vol fans look stupid.

P.S. Dawgs down! Florida down! Bama down next week! Ish!

I count like four things there. Shouldn't that be CBJ & staff:4 and Armchair coaches: 0? Just saying :)

I'm guilty for criticizing Worley at the time and I apologize. The kid has hung in there and made pretty good progress. But he's not the only one to make progress. The young wide receivers have made some big steps as well, along with the defense. It's all we as fans asked for at the beginning of the year, don't quit and make progress from game to game. I think the team & CBJ have given us an answer. Only going to get better...GBO!

So does SCjr... so does LSU... so does A&M... so does Georgia... so does Florida... so does Vandy... so does Kentucky... so does Miss St... so does Arkansas... so does Ole Miss...

What's your point?

Your thread title is butch jones staff 1 arm chair coaches 0 but we have more losses than wins (sec). Im just trying to figure out your scoring system.

Coach Jones and staff have simply been fantastic. With such a depleted roster (talent wise) it's a miracle that we are 4-3. Hell, we were one play away from 5-2 with wins over the number 7 and number 11 teams. I am so thrilled with how much improved our football program has improved. I said its great to be a Tennessee Vol!

1) Words can't explain how glad I am that our boys won today and I fully support the coaching staff.
2) We're on the right path, and buy-in is even more critical now than ever.
3) There are still problems that only more ponies in the stable will fix; however, our turnaround has started with Team 117. Brick by Brick!
4) GO VOLS!!!

I still have very little confidence in our offense....never know what your going to get. We have got to execute off of turnovers better. We had way to many 3 and outs today. This game could of easily been a 2 touchdown+ victory.

Worley is doing enough to keep us in games and as long as he does that and the team isn't giving up in the 3rd quarter when they're down, I'm cool with it.

We took a ranked Georgia team to OT two weeks ago. We beat 11th ranked South Carolina today. Volnation is having a pissing match about how bad we suck. Classic.

And I agree that right now Worley gives us the best chance of winning, but we need more from the position if we want to climb the ladder. After seeing today's games, I don't feel comfortable about predicting a win til we reach KY. I'll certainly be hoping for wins, but I'm not sure we can get them unless Worley takes another big step forward.

The fact we haven't seen a frosh QB tells me CBJ doesn't feel they are better than Worley yet. That's why I hope they really turn it on in the offseason. If we go into next season with similar QB play(to what we've seen thus far), we're in trouble.

FTR, I'm not trying to knock Worley. The kid's played hard and as a Vol fan, I am appreciative of that. But player evaluation is what it is and these kids should be used to it by now. As long as personal shots aren't involved, I see nothing wrong with evaluating a player.

As for Neal, I think he gets the start for two reasons. One, and probably the biggest factor, is he's faster than Lane. Two, he's a senior and CBJ doesn't see enough of a talent differential between Neal and Lane to not start the senior. I just think Lane is more of a punisher, and I like that in a RB. JMO tho.

I guess I'm missing the pissing match in this thread. I haven't read where we suck, just where we still need to improve. Do you disagree that there's still progression to be made? Yes, CBJ has us going in the right direction, but is it wrong for fans to discuss how we go about getting there? I guess I'm confused about the definition of the word fan. All I want is for UT to compete for championships again, preferably while my dad's still around to enjoy them with me.

Hey, let's enjoy the win...we are rebuilding for Pete'sake and we nearly beat the # 6 team and just beat the # 11 team. This team, while not the most gifted, plays with heart and passion. That starts at the top and l credit CBJ and staff! I see a bright future - and that is something we haven't seen for 6-7 years.

Doesn't everyone in the SEC East have 2 losses except for Mizzou? I wonder if people were expecting miracles by this staff with the current players?

Would you have predicted that before the season started? The SEC East seems weaker than most would have thought imo.

Interesting...

Did they look as stupid as the guy who posted these?:

Stop suggesting firing Dooley before the end

Dooley is a guy who needs more than 3 years

Dooley has done the heavy lifting

I agree that there's a lot of progress to be made. I also think this team has made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year. Before long, folks are going to run out of "yeah buts" every time we play well.

I have to say, I was yelling at the TV for Butch to go for it on 4th and 4 with 3:24 left in the game and was mad as hell when he didn't. But he made the right call. Punt, let the D go against a backup QB and get the ball back to end the game. Butch is the man, and I am nobody.

I think most folks are wanting to run of "yeah buts". I want us to climb back to the top. I want to return to winning be the expected and losing being the abberation.
