Jordan Horston Injury Status

Best of luck to Jordy and pray for complete and full recovery. Would love to see her back for the NCAA tourney, but I just don’t see her coming back that soon. Not a Dr. And dont know the full extent and severity of the injury. But their are a lot of moving parts where her injury occurred. Just get healthy first young lady!!

Before we start speculating and hoping she returns to help in the tournament, let’s remember she was just injured. Let’s just hope she heals completely and make sure we don’t rush her out onto the court before she is ready!
We should just assume she will be out until next year but if she does come back this year, we should be surprised and celebrate her early return then.

After some days in a cast, splint, or brace, you will have your sutures removed and be allowed to start moving your elbow. This is important to regain movement and prevent your elbow from becoming very stiff. Stiffness can be a problem after elbow fracture dislocations. Typically, your doctor will limit your activities for 6-12 weeks after the injury, perhaps placing you in a custom splint. When you start therapy, they may restrict how straight you can make your elbow. The reason for this is the elbow is less likely to dislocate again if it is kept slightly bent. Gradually over time, your doctor will let you work on full straightening of the arm. Periodic x-rays will confirm the elbow is still positioned correctly. from...Broken and Dislocated Elbows / Complex Elbow Injuries

I agree. The main reason I posted the quote from Kellie about their being an outside of JH getting back this season is that I think (hope) it is a sign that this injury is on the less severe side of an elbow dislocation. I have complete faith that Kellie and staff would not put Jordan back on the court unless she is 100% fully healed.

This scenario reminds me of when Lex Hornbuckle broke her wrist during the season and was assumed to be done for the year. She actually made it back for the tournament She did not play that well due to the rust but she had the experience at least. I am hoping that Jordan can follow a similar fast track healing path.

Now we have to feel the affects without our overall best player versus our overall best scorer. I’ve always been a Horston fan and stood up for her because I’ve always feared how this team would look without her. That time has come and I must say DAMN !

Quotes: Kellie Harper updates Horston’s status, previews tall task at #1 South Carolina
February 19, 2022
Kellie Harper met with the media via Zoom on Saturday afternoon in advance of Sunday’s game between the No. 12/8 Tennessee (21-5/10-3 SEC) and No. 1/1 South Carolina (24-1/12-1 SEC). The Lady Vols and Gamecocks will meet at 1 p.m. ET at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
On Jordan Horston’s status…
“With the update on Jordan, it’s a fractured dislocation of the elbow (left), and she will be out a few weeks for sure. And I don’t know how many weeks that will be, because the most important thing for us right now is to make sure that her injury has time to heal. And unfortunately, you can’t put a timeline on that. You know, we’ll have to see the progress, and we will monitor it frequently in the next month, but at this point, I think you’re really pushing it with the season winding down, but I suppose at this point the door would still be open (to return).”

She may be able to return before the NCAA tournament but would she be able to return at the same level athletically? I think that there is a huge difference between the time for an average person returning to normal activities and that of an elite athlete.

i dunno we will see how Paige returns and use it as a gage

We'll see. Bueckers is almost 2 weeks past the 6-8 week recovery window originally posted and she has just recently started limited practice. Even if she does return soon I don't think she will be anywhere near her pre injury game.

Imma LV fan but she is a gamer and having her on the court just gives a team confidence. Just like having Horston gives our team a little something.

For one the 6-8 weeks was never gonna happen 10-12 is the more likely diagnosis from what i saw.

No reason for her to play now even if she could the rest of the schedule can be easily handled by the team. I would think she would at least need to be back at practice in the next week if she is going to play in the conference tourney and two weeks if the NCAA.

Did she require surgery? I thought it was just relocating the elbow and a splint.

Wonder where Jordan stands with her injury? I know she still has that cast, but hope she’s feeling better and it’s healing!
