Since getting six minutes at Kentucky, in the last seven games McRae has done this:

12.3/5/2.5/1 block/1.3 TO's

46.7/36.7/73.1 slash line

About where you want it.

he has been the biggest bright spot on this team the last few weeks imo. we all kind of new what we were going to get from maymon going forward, and same can be said for golden, but we were all still very down on mcrae.

he has really "shown out" these last couple weeks, and is starting to show the potential that many on here thought he had. i am very excited to see the kind of player he can become under CCM.

I just love seeing him use his length on transition defense. Seems like he gets at least one block a game just by getting back on D first.

Do it appears that coach c can get his players to play well. Good sign IMO

Hate to sound pompous, but Martin has been able to get more from his players than Pearl. To be fair, it's still too early to make certain judgements. However, IMO, it seems that this staff has brought sense of discipline, structure, organization that Pearl came nowhere close to. I'm starting to think that Martin is the only person that can hold himself back from being a great coach. He does everything right and has a very structured and effective basketball strategy. So, I would say that as long as he doesn't underachieve, he will be a great basketball coach (hopefully for us), and has a shot at being a figure like Roy Williams, Bill Self, Billy Donovan (<-- lol), etc.

All I know is that I really like coach Martin right now. However, if he cannot succeed in the areas that he should be succeeding in, I would argue against him. Point is that I want to declare that I'm a reasonable person, and not a huge biased Martin-homer.

What you say may be true, and I hope it is. But let's get some sweet 16 and elete 8 then we can make a comparison. Just too early.

Other than Stokes, JM is the only other player on the team with NBA potential IMO. He has improved in all areas, ball handling, defense, and rebounding. Keep it up Jordon!

Jordan McRae has more NBA potential than maymon by a long shot.

I read an article recently saying that Maymon has been working really hard on his outside shot and thinks by next season he thinks he can be a consistent 3 point shooter. If he could add some more versatility to his game, it would help his NBA chances.

I'm no Pearl fan, but bringing him into your discussion pretty much negates your point.
No one knows what Pearl could have done with this group. Point of fact, he was a master at finding juco talent in the off season.
He could very well have bolstered the defense until the core of the team caught up on experience and not had the early losses to bad teams.
You don't know and neither do I, so why even mention him.
I do however like what Martin has done.

Oh it absolutely would help. It won't change the fact though the McRae has NBA potential, maymon has more of a already reached my potential kind of look, if that makes sense.

Basically McRae can get a lot better than he is, I don't know that maymon can get that much better than he is, not that he's bad, just the NBA drools over potential.

Saying Pearl could have well bolstered the defense pretty much negates your point. His teams hardy ever played D.

this. From the day he was signed most of us who saw Mcrae play knew he had a better chance than anyone else in terms of NBA potential. Especially with the draft being ON potential. He is almost as athletic as scotty was, but he's showing more of a work ethic. That's a pretty scary thing to think of.

McRae has stepped up. He was a top 30-40 national recruit coming out of high school. His upside was his tremendous athleticism and scoring ability but there were major questions about his strength, toughness and consistent three point shooting ability.

He will start next year and be a major contributor. I like how Cuonzo has kept in on the bench because he seems to do better coming on in a 6th man role. This team is going to have a lot to build around next year.

I think Cuonzo has proven to be a great coach, but his recruiting has to step up a notch, especially at the guard positions. It's ridiculous we haven't signed a top PG, or JUCO PG this year. We desparately need one next year.

On a side note, I think Maymon will get a shot at the NBA. He reminds me of D. Blair for the Spurs. Maymon will be the leader of this team next year along with Golden and I expect to make a run in the tournament with these guys.

Step up recruiting? What'd you expect him to do, pulling stokes wasn't enough for his first year?

You realize he can't recruit juco until after the year right?

Never said he had more potential than McRae.
