Jordan McRae

I think I agree with the "he needs to improve his handle" argument. He's ahead of where Hopson was in that regard, but not where he needs to be to not be a turnover liability as a 2 in the NBA.

Didn't several football players come back THIS year? Mccullers and the offensive lineman, can't remember which is the senior.

Not sure if you meant a "UT" guy as in a star or just someone who could go pro and returned for another year in college instead, but plenty do it.

Obvious answer is Peyton. But I should look it up and see if Witten stayed four years.

Lmao tony jones on the locker room show was just talking about McRae...said he should get POY. Said he looks at draft boards and sees bums like poythress and Goodwin and doesn't see McRae on there lol

It's on MYVLT for anyone interested, Jones is funny he speaks his mind. Called patric young patty and said Billy D don't complain to the refs you got outplayed and out hustled lol

Tyler Smith. Twice.

I'm still pissed at that guy. Between him, Duke, Wingate, how much talent have we lost or been kicked off? Imagine had we had Wingate/Crews for that game against Ohio State when they had Oden... pisses me off.

Patricia Young. Preseason SEC POY according to some. I said at the time I'd believe it when I saw it. Still too soft to be as big as he is. Every analyst in the country salivates over the guys arms, but when it comes down to it, his college career will be remembered as being an underachiever.

Good call Manny. I think this is a trend now days too. Kids dont care if the are remembered as underachievers anymore. As long as their is an NBA light at the end of the colege tunnel. JMO

I think McRae wants to come back next year with everyone returning so he can improve his draft stock

I don't see how his stock rises next year sharing the basketball with Hubbs and Maymon in the fold.

Knock has always been consistency, but he's been pretty consistent through SEC play. Maybe if he returns and plays close to this level all year would be the only way, but that's asking a heck of a lot especially when you add 2 guys who are gonna need shots.

McRae playing lights out! Needs to gain some weight if he wants to play in the league and needs better ball-handling skills.

Good point. But, Maymon opens the floor, adds another dimension of shot creation for other players. McRae can have Stokes 7-8 a game if you ask me. Let Stokes get his touches on off Rebs and garbage underneath. Plus I'm guessing that even though Hubbs is a stud offensively that Cuonzo slowly mixes him in slowly due to having to learn defensive concepts. Could be wrong if his offensive game is as good as advertised. Will be fun to watch.

“@BFQuinn: "If I had a vote (for SEC player of the year), it would definitely be (Jordan McRae)." - Cuonzo Martin”

There are plenty of super thin guys in the league. It wouldn't be a problem because of his length. That was the knock on Durant coming out of college as well, but I'd say he been just fine.

Besides he'd have more time to work on his body after college than he does now attending classes and whatnot.

McRae isn't Durant though.

Never said he was, but people said the same thing about Durant.

Point is that length can overcome a slight body in the NBA. I can name a bunch of guys this applies to.

McRae is like a carbon copy of Jamal Crawford.

I think the shots will still be there for Jordan even with Maymon back next year. The offense still needs to run through the post. Jordan has been on fire from long range the past several games, but one thing I've noticed is that his driving lanes have been cut off lately. He's had a couple of pull up Js, but that's about the extent of the looks he's gotten inside 20 feet recently.

When Maymon's back and the defenses collapse on Jarnell and Jeronne, it should open up lanes for Jordan. I still Jordan's better when his first option is to drive rather than settle for a long range shot.

We can only hope he's thinking the same way. He has been so good this year, but next year could be insane if he returns.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

Crawford is a good comparison. Prince is at least 3" taller and 30+ lbs heavier. Also plays a different position, but if the comparison is simply to another successful lanky NBA player, then like Durant, he fits the bill as well.

How about Rip Hamilton. He a better example?
