The 5' 11" guard from Oregon who visited along with Mercedes Russell is apparently set to announce her school choice tomorrow at 5:00 PM PDT.

She is ranked 42 by Hoopgurlz, but has apparently been playing exclusively PG for her high school. Chri Hansen of ESPN Hoopgurlz had this to say about her ". . . Will she be a point guard in college or a slashing off guard, that is still up for debate, but she's an explosive perimeter player who can be a difference maker. Stay tuned."

I think there is a good chance she chooses Tennessee, but we will know tomorrow.

After this season, Taber Spani & Kamiko Williams will graduate.
So, we only have two scholarships available for next season. Yet, we have Mercedes, K. Davis and this girl waiting to committ to us.
That is three players for two slots....

Kaela Davis committed to Ga Tech. However, I still think the Lady Vols have a good chance at getting Reynolds or Tyler Scaife.

If you look at the roster you will see that we have 11 playres this year. When Kamiko and Taber graduate that will result in 6 available scholarships for next year. Two are already spoken for in Jannah Tucker and Mercedes Russell. I think that the staff will use no more than 2 more, putting us at 13 scholarship players for 2013-14.

Don't let her ranking fool you. She's a very good player. She also has offers from Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, USC and UNC. She's a guard, which we're pretty stacked at, but adding another good one to the roster wouldn't hurt.

Several people, including her coach, have suggested that she is much better than her 42 ranking on ESPN Hoopgurlz. And remember, that is an overall rank. Her position rank is 10, and I'm not sure if that is evaluating her as a point guard or as a 2-guard. The comments seem to suggest that she will be better utilized as a 2-guard at the college level, although she has played almost excclusively point guard for her teams to date.

Additionally, if you remember Sidney Spencer was rated 38, I believe, coming out of high school, and she turned out to be a key contributing member of two championship runs!

Thanks Jim, I have much better understanding now. I did not think about being top ten at her position. Thanks again

Check here for video highlights of this young guard.

I realize that highlight reels can be deceiving, but I liked her coach's comments in the first reel. Could explain why people are saying that she is better than her #42 ranking at ESPN Hoopgurlz.

If she commits to Tennessee, Holly may have gotten a steal.

I believe you're thinking of Smallbone. I know she was ranked 38 or 39. I don't remember where Spencer was ranked. I do know Spencer was in the running for Gatorade Player of the Year so I'm pretty sure she was ranked pretty high.

I'm not sure about Smallbone, but I'm thinking about Spencer. I can't find a link to the Hoopgurlz/Bluestar rankings for her senior year at this point, but I'm relatively positive that her ranking was in the high 30s.

Alabama doesn't generally have very many high school girls highly ranked on the national level. For example, Jasmine Jones, who was the 2011-12 Gatorade Alabama Girls Basketball Player of the Year, was ranked 39th by Hoopgurlz. If her play continues in the vein shown last night, especially against tougher competition, I'm sure we'll all agree that that ranking was lower than it should have been.

Jasmine Jones looks like a super player as does Graves so anyone we get just adds to what we already have. Russell, Graves, Harrison, and Burdick is a really good inside rotation. Jones, Tucker, Massengale, Simmons, Carter, Phillips, and Reynolds would be a tremendous perimeter group.

That is my memory as well. It should be noted though that she had to really work at it to improve her quickness and find a role. She was a totally different player when she left here than when she came in. I now all of our players develop while they are here but Spencer kind of set a standard in that regard.

I guess what I am getting at is that the ranking was probably about right for Syd when she came in. Reynolds seems to be a bit underrated.

Has she announced yet? I think it came down to Louisville, Ohio State and Tennessee.

Another HUGE get for Holly and staff. This girl is GOOD. I have a feeling Mercedes may have had a little something to do with this also. Welcome to the Lady Vol family, Jordan!

Thanks for the updates CannonVol. They are much appreciated. Sounds like another solid commit. Holly is doing a nice job with this class.
