Josh Dobbs signs with Titans

I think that group has shrunk considerably; I don't know of anyone that seriously thinks Willis is the future.

Granted the OL is so bad it is difficult for anyone right now but he was a run first QB in the preseason when the OL was healthier. He hasn't figured out you can't outrun NFL players.

Good although he's playing behind a very poor Titans OL.
I know a lot of Titan fans are still stuck on Malik being the future and this move could ruin him.
I say it helps him. Running for his life and confused back there isn't going to help him grow. Hit the film room and do a lot of work in the off season and be ready to show your progression in camp. Everyone knows he's not ready to be the starter and was going to be a work in progress to get him developed but things changed at QB and his number got called and he wasn't ready. Can't fault him, he was a 3 round pick. His QBR is horrible, even with the Titans bad line I'd expect better than what he has.
As for Willis, no one expected him to be ready this year, or possibly ever next year. They knew he was raw and needed time to develop. As far as Dobbs starting, the titans have pretty much decided to rest all of their starters for a win or go home game next week against the jaguars. The cowboys game is worthless as far as that's concerned. I think they would rather not risk Willis, plus they drum up some support from Vol fans for starting Dobbs. There's also the possibility Dobbs might give you a better chance to win next week, so might as well find that out this week. It's a win/ win/ win imo. Rested players, extra attention, and possible temporary solution at QB.

Came to see D4H taking his victory lap. Leaving disappointed......

For D4H to take a victory lap Dobbs will have to become the "Michael Jordan of football." and start pulling down Super Bowls. For the moment let's all just be happy Josh is going to get a legit chance to take over as an NFL QB.

I think they're seeing what they have in Dobbs for next week more so than resting Willis for next week and like you said. It'll get some Vols fans watching that might not otherwise.
Hopefully TN makes it a game tonight

My excitement for tonight’s game just quadrupled!! If Astro Dobbs throws 4 tds tonight and wins the division next week, he may very well become the titans lead man going into the future.

As a Titans fan, I would love to see it. But given the guys who will be around him tonight, it's more likely that Amazon broadcasts a live murder.

Yeah they aren't "resting" Willis. He needs all the reps he can get. If he was a lock to start against Jacksonville, he'd be playing tonight.

Yes Dobbs being in the league longer gives him a clear advantage over Willis. Willis cannot go through a single progression right now. Doesn't understand coverages. His head is spinning out there and he can't handle it unless they give him the most simple read possible.

He was even like that at Liberty! Can't see the field then he runs around and tries to make a play like he's in his backyard. Which he's actually good at, but it's hard to consistently pull that off.

He is one of the biggest projects I've ever seen drafted that high. I mean Jake Locker and Mariota didn't pan out, but they were waaaaaay ahead of Willis as rookies. He's a lot closer to Rusty Smith than he is to two below average career NFL starters.

I really don't even see the point in wasting time with him. Like we basically need him to be the best QB in our history. How many great quarterbacks looked this bad as a rookie? Zero.

So I say bench him. Based off of what I've seen Dobbs is a superior option. Don't care about regular season experience. Dobbs can read a defense! He understands football, Willis does not.

I'm sure the Titans will just roll out Willis the rest of the year because they think a miracle will happen, but Dobbs made reads and throws Willis is not capable of right now.

Not even saying Dobbs would play great, but I am saying basically any veteran NFL QB would give us a better chance to win than Malik Willis because they'll at least actually understand what's going on.

In all likelihood, Willis ain't it. He's got the physical traits, but he needs multiple years of development. And the Titans aren't doing him any favors. We have scout team level talent lining up at WR and OL at the moment. Also, the Todd Downing offense is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

As far as what other great QBs looked this bad as a rookie, I can't think of many. Alex Smith had one of the worst rookie seasons ever and he turned out ok. Justin Fields was pretty awful last year and he seems to have turned it around now.

You nailed it. Last week showed that the Titans aren’t going to win with Willis at QB…at least not anytime soon.

I would bet that in his second week Dobbs already looks much better than Willis in practice. Otherwise, Willis would start tonight. I give credit to the Titans organization for making the change.

I wish Dobbs was playing with what starters the Titans have left. Heck their best player in Henry is even sitting out. Looks like they are making this a lot like a preseason game.

So if he somehow wins, the case gets even stronger?? I’m so ready for this nfl game and haven’t been able to say that in a while

Lol... Drunk on the Orange Koolaid and shading in the Orange Glasses...... There is no one on earth that would take a career backup's backup over Tannehill who's in the top 5 of wins since the moment he became the starter 4 years ago.
Tannehill isn't that good and he is injury prone I didn't like when the titans got him. Won't matter either way cause the titans can never buy an offensive line so it won't matter who they have as QB

How many games has Tannehill missed since he became starter in 2019? I’ll wait….
