Josh Dobbs vs Nathan Peterman

Dobbs is a winner. He won the most important games of the season. That's all I care about. Pitt can keep Peterman. We have our QB and he is the best one we've had since Ainge and the best representative of this University since Peyton.

Bray was better.

Just my message board opinion, but never have been overly impressed with Dobbs. He has his moments. But he's not consistent. A senior QB throwing the INT he did in OT at TAM. On the first down play. There wasn't a UT receiver in the same zip code. He's just not elite. He's good. That's as far as I go. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

I agree with you.

Dobbs certainly provides an intangible with his ability to run, but his inconsistency throwing long and intermediate passes has allowed defenses to invest all their resources in stopping the run. Dobbs' completion percentage is well below-average for the SEC. It's true that he has had weak protection at times, but even on plays with strong protection, he has a below-average completion percentage. If Dobbs could throw the deep ball well (consistently), he would be able to pick up even more yards running the ball as defenses would be forced to play deeper coverage.

I view him as a "Poor Man's" Dak Prescott. He's been a good QB and he's a great human being. Just don't view him as an elite QB.

In the pantheon of UT QBs, I don't think he makes the top 5. Maybe top 10. Certainly behind Manning, Shuler, Tee Martin, Casey Clause, and Erik Ainge in the past 20 years. However, I'd rate him above Andy Kelly, Tyler Bray, and J. Crompton

if Dobbs was getting the protection Peterman is being afforded, he would be a Heisman front runner.
