Someone should introduce Google to GT and show them how to use it. Have they no idea what the Tiger program has been like the last few years?

JP bought himself another $7m or more. Now he's played 2 schools. He's definitely smarter than the AD's hiring him.

Not sure about that. We don't know new contract at Tech, but my guess is he will need to get an extension after a year or two to get more than what he was guaranteed at Memphis. He was guaranteed 10.65 million as long as he stayed.

A 5 year deal at 2 million would still not get him there.

My worst nightmare is the Coach Bruce Pearl now goes to Memphis.....Auburn is a bigger dumpster fire for college basketball than Knoxville is

If he did, he'll be in the same place that Donnie Tyndall is within five years. The NCAA could care less about Auburn basketball. But Tiger High is right up there with SMU and UNLV on the NCAA's permanent sh*t list. Combine that with a coach who's already had one show-cause and look out...

Memphis is paying him 1.255 million to go away over the next two seasons. so I'm guessing he isn't paying the $500k buyout.

Pastner has show since memphis moved out of conference where they would not be able to go 35 -2 from the weak ass scedual.getting into another conference was a death nail to Memphis basketball.

I can't agree with that. Changing conferences is just what Memphis does. They have been in 5 different ones (Missouri Valley Conference, Metro, Great Midwest, Conference USA and now the AAC) over the last 50 years and even spent some time as an independent. Each conference they've been in usually includes one other really strong program who becomes a rival (such as Louisville from their time with the Metro) and some other good but not great mid-majors (such as Tulsa). They also typically play a strong out of conference schedule anyway.

They really just need a better coach. The NCAA tournament should never be a problem for them with a strong leader.

I hope a change of scenery works out for Pastner. I have doubts about his coaching skill improving, but he's a class act by all accounts.

Greg Marshall is the hottest name. And Jeff Capel, and Penny Hardaway is being thrown out there.

City wants Greg Marshall but he'll come with a hefty price tag ($3.3M a year min). That's what he is currently making.

The admin will go with the best deal for the budget.

My money is on Hardaway. They can get him cheap and he still has name recognition in the tristate area.

It'll fill seats year one.

Year two, I predict the darkest times of Memphis basketball in the schools history.

He is doing well at East High right now, but he has some of the best talent in the southeast. Won't be that way at the next level.

I used to live in Collierville and I worked in Bartlett and I have a good friend who is a former Memphis football player and is currently a booster who says that it will be Tad Boyle of Colorado. His info concerning Memphis (for what little that is worth) is normally very solid.

Memphis won't hire penny it would be just like pastner learning on the job.. Get an established coach and give penny an asst job.. He's only coached aau and high school ball... It wouldn't work with penny as coach. Buzz Williams would be an excellent hire

I want to say 6 years. He originally was a co-host with Geoff Calkins, the lead columnist of The CA. Calkins now makes an appearance one time per show and has his own show. When it comes to these types of things, Parish knows his stuff. He said he had coaches and agents texting him yesterday during the show as he was talking about the search.

The name Tubby Smith from TTU is now being thrown out.

Would be the most successful coach Memphis has ever hired from what I'm being told. He's taken teams from 5 schools to the tournament and won a title back at UK in 98.
