We'll be infinitely better defensively this season.

i thought so, but now i know since you said it !
no more trying to just outscore people, we can shut some people down.
the press will be more effective this year. they worked on it, either we're good at breaking the press or it just needs a little more work. looked good though...

A very good job by the staff and Selby not falling into the DC Assault pattern.I have no problem admitting whan I'm wrong. It happens so infrequently that I can live with it.

Crazy to think we have three commits from guys who have yet to play their junior season. We need a big man bad though.

The press won't be near as important now that we will be able to play much, much better halfcourt defense.

We already have Kenny Hall on board. Also, big men develop much slower than guards. There's plenty of time to find a big guy in those classes.

true. i just like watching it. love to press when i play... i'm sure we'll press some teams without ballhandlers though, just to make them submit... nevertheless, teams have to prepare for our press...

The press is fine. However, you win games in March a halfcourt at a time.

i wonder where my tickets are. i thought they'd be here by now, i think they said they'd mail them in sept. ????
and hat, i like watching winning more than just enjoying the press, so here's to defense!!! man, i cant wait, even before our football season was shot...

I think the press will be more important because a lot of our offense will depend on it. It will be something that we should excel at and relying on halfcourt D rather than Pearl's bread and butter doesn't seem like an intelligent idea to me.

it would help generate offense if we struggle in the halfcourt, who knows how thats gonna look without chris and jujuan draining 3's. i think we'll be fine in halfcourt though. and that said, if the offense doesnt light it up, we can shut some guys down, so regardless
DEFENSE= winning basketball

I agree with your post for the most part... the defense will determine how far we go in the tournament but I think everyone knows our half court offense will be worse without Lofton and Jajuan and we have to make that up in some way. This should be our best pressing team ever... why wouldn't we take advantage of that?

I think the main difference is that if someone does slow us down this year, we will more than likely have a better chance to win compared to years past BUT we are still more likely to win if the game has a fast tempo. I don't think Pearl will be slowing down the game anytime soon.

me either... thats how he recruits these guys anyway, right?
side note: i stood there while he introduced a recruit to mike hamilton and listened in on the conversation, pretty cool. the kid is being recruited as a two sport player, from memphis, know who he is? bruce asked him where else he'd get the chance to go into memphis and play against them, and if he'd enjoy them all hating on him... anyway, good stuff...

Marlon Brown, I saw Bruce down there talking to him. I am not for sure that he will play bball but he could probably help

yea, coach said he's like a more physical josh tabb. so i didnt think he was REALLY high on him, said nothing about any skills or anything. said they'd have the deal done by the time he come on his official visit for florida game in january. i talked to marlon later a little bit, but didnt want to be too pushy. just asked him what position they were recruiting him at.
do you know who the kid is from somewhere in GA, junior this year, he was here last year too. seems pretty comfortable there. i talk to him all the time when i see him, saw him when i was leaving the game and he looked like he wanted to say something and was surprised i didnt go over to him. cool dude...

probably shouldn't have quoted the Kenny Hall post and then not given a name to go with your description.

if you read the thread you would see what we were talking about, not trying to be prick. i quoted the post because i was replying to him. i'm trying to find out the kids name and he's not kenny hall. thats the reason i gave the dudes size...
