Josh Selby getting recognition at King City Classic

Other than bringing in Hall this year, we haven't. But, the '10 Class is far from finished. If we avoid another APR hit and have all 13 scholarships, then there are 6 spots coming open. There are two committed players for '10. That leaves 4 spots.

This is a very important year on the recruiting trail.

Is the 8/5 rule still in place or did they throw that away? I'm thinking I heard that rule was no longer in place for some reason.

Not sure, but they may decide not to use all 6 even if they can. There's only 2 players in the rising junior class, so they may want to space out the scholarships more. 5-2-4-1 is the current distribution by class.

Have you seen him play?

No I have not. But I do know he went to Dematha (a top HS bball team in the country). And I have heard he is the best since Keith Bogans and Joe Forte to come out of Dematha so I have high hopes. Just curious if the supposed character issues are worth the risk v reward.

Interesting. Joe Forte also had attitude problems at UNC. Didn't realize he was a DeMatha product.

And like it Hatvol. You think you are the know-all basketball guru for some reason. And you are not. Sorry that guys burst your bubble.
Take what? That Selby gave a bunch of CYA quotes? Yeah, that showed me. Idiot.

The risk v reward is in our favor.

According to certain posters on here, since he is a high rated recruit, if he committed to Calipari then YES, Selby would be worth the risk.

However, since he has committed to Tenn and Pearl, then the answer is NO, he is not worth the risk.

Make Sense?

I believe whatever character issues there actually are, they will be worked out. Selby will do fine and will be a big-time player for the Vols.

Why people focus so much on any possible negative aspect they can find, is beyond me.

I googled his new HS out of curiosity and found out it's horribly rated with lots of dropouts and crime.

FWIW, I wasn't trying to put you or anyone in their place. I was just taking up for the kid.

Believe me, I get it - You're only concerned about the type of player that Pearl is bringing into our program. I can appreciate that, but it seems to me that you are choosing to believe the worst when all you have to go on is assumptions. It's a pessimistic way of looking at things.

On the other hand, it is fact that he missed some school because of how hard it is for him to get there. Why is it so hard for you believe that that was the reason he was suspended, and also the reason he decided to transfer? Unless you are an insider, I just don't understand how you choose the side of conjecture over facts.

Again, I felt that some unfair shots were being taken at Selby, so that's why I decided to step in.

Edit: I just noticed that you claim he was kicked out. I have seen nor heard nothing to indicate this, but admittedly, I'm no insider. Do you have some kind of inside info? And even if he WAS kicked out, do you know without a doubt that it was because of his attitude and not from missing school?

Yes, he was.

Let's all listen to this guy. He must be right since he has a picture of Kate Beckinsale. Were you there? Did the coach tell you personally because you're hatvol? Or did you hear it from a guy who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy?

No, let's all listen to the douchebag fan of a gutter, third world sport like soccer. I'm not worried about my credibility with some futbol imbecile. My record here has proven time and again I know what I'm talking about. You, on the other hand, have proven nothing beyond the fact you're a fool. Congratulations. Now, go watch the David Beckhams and Landon Donovans of the world bore America to tears, soccer fruit.

You are so predictable. "Oh you have no credibility because you don't have alot of posts like me!".. well mr hat, some people have lives outside of sitting glued in front of their computer all day waiting to make a swipe at Bruce Pearl or one, Josh Selby.

And soccer a third world sport? You really do have no credibility if you think that. Other than the United States, soccer is bigger than basketball in virtually every nation on Earth. And you call me a fool? Hah!

And Don't you have a YMCA pick up game to go scout? Come back and tell us which middle aged man has the silkiest jumper and if he has any eligibility left.

I do so love the ignore function. Arguably the greatest feature in all of cyberspace.

China.

And not to agree with hat, but soccer is usually associated with people who are too poor, weak or too puny to play other sports.

Anyone who doesn't think soccer has credibility is an idiot. Soccer (while i'm not a fan unless America is playing) is the most popular sport in the world.
