'19 JUCO WR Javonta Payton (Tennessee commit)

Si
I think in 2019 that after a year out of coaching, it may be possible for a SEC team to hire him as OC with some conditions as mandated by the SEC.

Will be an interesting situation to follow this offseason.
What y'all are saying is if Bama wants him.

Payton played juco ball last year. Unless he’s redshirting this year, he only has 2 years of eligibility left.
It was stated earlier in this thread, or maybe it was another one, that he had 4 to play 3. Maybe that poster was wrong, but I didn't see anyone immediately disagree with him.

Some team is going to get fleeced when they hire Locksley as HC because if this years offense then find out Dan ENOS is the key to the new offense scheme
Maybe...but Enos sucked as a HC, so Locksley might be the better hire.

Well I disagree with him, based on NCAA rules and the fact he’s already burned 2 years of eligibility.

In 2017, Payton had 44 catches for 509 yards. That means he didn’t redshirt in 2017 and burned a year of college eligibility. Source: JaVonta Payton, Northwest Mississippi C.C., Wide Receiver

In 2018, Payton currently has 21 receptions in 8 games for 312 yards. That means he’s burned a second year of college eligibility. Source: NJCAA

Unless the person who stated earlier that Payton has 4 to play 3 can explain how that’s possible after burning 2 years of eligibility, which Payton clearly has done, then it’s pretty clear Payton only has 3 to play 2.

Thanks for the explanation and clearing it up...as snarky and condescending as possible.

I think you’re reading tone that wasn’t there. I was responding to the language in your post about another person saying he had 4 to play 3 and there being no following disagreement by providing reasons for my disagreement, but remaining open to other explanation of the aforementioned poster’s position, if he has one.

We need a bunch of those EE's in this class. In the past, someone has always posted who all of the EE candidates are. Is that listed somewhere and I just missed it?
they're updated in the committment thread, and as of now we don't have that many.

this is correct he only has 3 to play 2 being that he did not RS at the JUCO.

I didn't take it that way at all.
And he might not have meant it that way. It just came across as though he needed to break my post down bit by bit, even detailing the rule and JP's stats to prove his point. He could have just as easily stated simply that JP had already played in both years at JUCO, so he only had 3 to play 2. I may have read some unintended tone behind his words but it seemed sarcastic because of the above reasons. Tone is difficult to interpret in text.

My read:
He didn't disagree with what you said, which was that someone posted the info, and you didn't see anyone disagree.

He just addressed what you said you had read. The way he did it fits naturally with a lot of academic disciplines, and career fields -- make your statement, then cite your data and sources.

I read it as strictly objective -- not going out of the way to be friendly, but not hostile or snarky. FWIW.

Everyone saw what speed at the WR position can do to defenses in the loss to Alabama, and the 6-foot-2, 180-pound wideout is the type of burner this staff is looking for. Payton clocked multiple 4.4 times this summer. He has a comfortability with Tennessee too, even saying, “I’ve been up there so much, it just fits me.” Mississippi State, UF and others remain factors for the JUCO prospect, but Tennessee made a huge move this weekend. Payton will take an official visit here sometime over the next sit weeks and will sign with a school in December.

Your last sentence is probably accurate. Like I said, I likely read tone that wasn't intended. To me, the drawn out explanation just seemed like intentional overkill designed to make his point. And I realize he didn't disagree with anything I said, just the inaccuracy of the info I relayed. No big deal in the end.
